A friend (former friend?) sends me many-times-forwarded e-mails.
It's a pain in the patoot to have to open 8 or 10 files to finally get to (usually) some lame joke that started the rounds last week.

I sent him a nice note, no politics or anything approaching it, asking him if he could take a little constructive criticism. I explained how to copy and paste the original message into a new e-mail. That's all. Here's the reply I just got:

Sorry to have pissed you off so intensely once again. Might I suspectI that all the fuss over President Reagan's passing has you in a tizzy these days and that you're lashing out at anyone who further presses your patience beyond what you're able to tolerate as you settle into your twilight years. I can only imagine that these recent days in the media must have scraped your nerves raw.

Still, that is no excuse for your abrupt reaction to a friend's attempt to reach out to you from a position of friendship as I simply tried to share an innocent chuckle with you.

Take a Viagra. That should help. It will divert your blood pressure to where it can no longer do any harm, and may even lessen your chances of having a stroke. "BE SURE TO CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST."

In the meantime, pull a blanket over your head for now. All the Pomp and Spleandor of the Reagan years in the White House will be over by the end of this weekend and you will be able to relax your jaw and unclench your fists once again, and to cinch up your belt to go out and fight windmills 'til your heart's content.

relative to NOT send me tons of jokes, prayers, paens to conservatism, etc. , they did not stop.

Finally, I had enough, and asking them to not send me this stuff did not work. I started flooding them with junk. Total junk. Recipes, articles, stories off of newsgroups, things that had nothing to do with anything.

Not even liberal things, since libs tend to not send stupid little anecdotal stories, ala "Readers' Digest".

Finally got it through his head. THAT is when they stopped.

Interesting, to me anyway, that he was born Canadian and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

I only (used to) see him once a year. He and his wife travel an annual circuit around the U.S. in a mega-motorhome. He always toted a large ego around. Never knew he was such a uber-right-winger before. No loss to me.
I sent one answer after reading only the first line of his rant:
