I just read Skinner's post after a few days
respite since Saturday when I decided to leave the fold (reminds me of my former Catholic days) because of the hateful things said about former President Reagan. Skinner (along with a whole lot of overload from the TV crapfest) made me realize that leaving DU was a bit premature.

I have watched/listened to ZILCH of this media hype canonization but just living life one is bound to pass a TV and/or radio and overhear things. The little I've overheard has brought me to the precipice of hurldom.

I've concluded that the TV/radio bullshit is in worse taste than the Reagan bashing about which I had some initial concerns. Further, upon doing more research into Ronnie, I've learned more about what his presidency did.

While still hoping that his ass ends up in heaven, I now realize why some people were so, shall we say, animated in their opining about the Dutchmeister.

So, uh, er, there!

3. The world would be a better place if more people were like you.
Not many people are willing a re-evaluates their beliefs. Even in the light of new evidence many people refuse to re-evaluate beliefs. Thanx for re-affirming my belief that thought and reflection are not dead.

5. I'm sure my brother would say:
"While still hoping that his ass ends up in heaven, I now realize why some people were so, shall we say, animated in their opining about the Dutchmeister."

Can I have back the $100 I gave to your campagn in 1980?

My brother died of AIDS in 1989 and realized that being a Republican was not what he expected.

6. Yeah it was something
And, as you say, a learning process.

The Myth of RR was soundly rebutted here. Let's hope we keep doing it.
Now that we all know better we need to spread it around.

7. I don't believe in heaven or hell, like the Christian version.
I don't know what the after life is or if it is, however, I would like to think that you don't get away with the bad things you do and then rest for eternity without any punishment or reward.

I like the Hindu reincarnation theory, that you are reborn and must be punished or rewarded for the previous life you led. In Reagan's case, I don't think he deliberately meant to be mean, but he had inborn biases that caused him to do the things he did, like not funding aids research, and cutting off the social programs that helped an underclass he didn't understand.

I think when he is reborn, his mother will be a black single mother struggling to feed her children. He will have to grow up to be a person, who must struggle for everything he gains. He will benefit of course from social programs that hopefully will be restored by a social democratic government. He will have to suffer the tribulations he was too arrogant to care about and that he could have done something about when he was Governor of California and then President of the USA.
