1. I watched this live...

Bush's speech was awful. He was late, saying it was fog or something. He tried to look important and failed.

Just horrible.

I was up late and watched it, too. Bush's speech may have been the worst speech I have ever heard.

I don't think he even hinted once at giving one word of praise to the French for anything. What a rude fucking guest.

Edit: Couldn't he at least have mentioned one former French leader? Maybe he did but I missed it because I switched channels when I couldn't take it any more. I mean, was De Gaulle a total loser or something?

7. I don't think he did...

The whole speech was a thinly veiled attempt to defend his own policies and an attempt to guilt the French into supporting the US in the present.

And he flubbed up Eisenhower's D-Day prayer.

Shrub probably doesn't know the names of any French leaders from the past. He's an idiot.

3. I fell sleep. I closed my eyes because I cannot stand looking at
him. Now I woke up and he is still talking!
He pauses for applause! The first pause, when I was still awake, was very awkward because he had not said anything to applaud.

4. I have a question: watching him walk (that was a long walkway!), is
there anything wrong with his right leg? I heard Gore Vidal saying something about Bush*'s knee but I thought he was joking...

8. I didn't watch
but I'm glad our weekend warrior-in chief did not use the commemoration as an excuse to plug his current war (or the ones on the planning board).
