Transcript of an interesting exchange on CNN today
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0308/12/ltm.08.html

<snip>BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Back to Iraq right now. We want to turn to the nonstop violence against U.S. troops in that country.
Stan Goff is a military father who formed a group with other military families called Bring Them Home Now. His son is on his way to Iraq. Stan joins us live today from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Rebecca Davis has three sons in the military, one right now serving in Iraq. She disagrees. She's live in Orrington, Maine.

And good morning to both of you and thanks for your time here on AMERICAN MORNING.

Stan, I want to begin with you, take you back to the 2nd of July. This is what the president said in response to the continuing violence against U.S. troops in Iraq.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: There are some who feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is bring 'em on.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HEMMER: Those last three words, "bring 'em on," offend you, Stan.

1. Link to their organization
http://www.mfso.org/

I do not think Bush wants any GI's home because he doesn't want the truth to get out. Too many horror stories are out there.

2. LIked this quote:
"GOFF: Just because, just because we've already lost lives in a very, executing a very bad idea, does not mean we should continue to risk lives to pursue that idea. It's not getting any better. It's not wine, it's not improving with age."

A father who was in Viet Nam. People should listen to him. Thanks for the post.

I don't want to go through the trouble of dredging through their site to find the post...but the lady is a freeper and posted the transcript after she was on.

4. A must read. This is amazing.
This says it all. Highlights:

--

HEMMER: Those last three words, "bring 'em on," offend you, Stan.

Tell us why.

STAN GOFF, MILITARY DAD: Well, this is a man that's sitting in a 72 degree press office in the White House inviting attacks on people who are now enduring 120 degree midday temperatures, daily attacks and family separation. That, I think, is just one of the most fundamentally offensive remarks that I've ever heard.

---

GOFF: Just because, just because we've already lost lives in a very, executing a very bad idea, does not mean we should continue to risk lives to pursue that idea. It's not getting any better. It's not wine, it's not improving with age. And my political agenda on this has to do with bringing my son out of harm's way...

8. Met a mom today w/a son in Baghdad....
....she was trying to be hopeful/promising about her son coming home (by December or February?), but she wound up by saying that 'basically her son signed up for the Reserve money'....she and her husband now dearly wish that they would've taken out a loan for him.'

10. A woman I work with
Has a son (Heavy Machine Gunner?) in Fallujah. I always ask how he's doing, she hasn't heard from him in forever.

She's very media bred. We had a lively discussion about the movie the Mothman Prophecies, in which she claimed it was all true, b/c it was based on a true story.

But anyhow, one day after talking to her she whispered (like the was talking about something sinister) "Sometimes I just wish we hadn't gone over there". Sweet lady, I feel for her.

9. lol
That lady is so misled.

He's against the war... so it's all about "political agendas" and "Wanting the Baath part back in power".

She's saying this all in defense of one big, evil, active political agenda.

11. This sums up the weakness of her position:
"If we were to bring our kids home, we'd have lost a lot of kids for nothing. "

We have ALREADY lost them for nothing. We can't create a good reason to lose them, after the fact.

These people are in enial and our troops are suffering for their arrogance and denial.
