I want to tell all you DUers something. ....
Edited on Thu May-27-04 06:47 PM by TruthIsAll
I have been around a long time. I have seen them all.I remember Harry Truman. I remember Adlai Stevenson. And JFK. And RFK. MLK. Carter. Big Dog. All great.

Know this: The one Democrat who has now moved to the very top in my estimation is the current, duly elected President: Al Gore. His last four speeches will be remembered long after I'm gone. His passion and patriotism and compassion and intelligence are unmatched.

I like Dean. I believe Kerry will be a great President. And Wes Clark is a great one also. Along with Kucinich, these are all good men. Each with the potential to be great.

But I voted for Al Gore. We will all go to our graves wondering what might have been if the other 51 million who also voted for him had their votes counted fairly.

We should all be thankful to have Al Gore around to speak those magnificent words which we all feel and know to be true and from the heart. Al is still a young man. We need him now more than ever, as Secretary of State, Secretary of the Interior..you name it.

Know this: There is no one, absolutely no one, who comes close to this man.

Truth Is AL

Al Gore's speech was wonderful yesterday. He would have been a truly great president but for five traitors on the US Supreme Court.

35. Don't count him out. He's way ahead of Nixon at this poiont - and if an
idiot loser like Nixon can manage a win, it should be a no-brainer for magnificent Al.

Give him a few years.

He could succeed Kerry in 8 years!

10. Isn't it ironic. We love Al for his fire now.
And I believe he had the fire in 2000, but was constrained by the media.

I've always put Al at the top of the heap for his principles.

Principles AND fire -- awesome combination. This is what progressives need more than ever now, and I couldn't be more pleased with Al Gore for being what he is for us now.

13. Gore has a part to play in American history that no one else could have
played. Can you imagine any of our current politicians giving these policy speeches after going through what he has? He has more loyalty to this country and to the Democratic party than anyone else I can imagine. And he does it all, knowing the kind of crap he will have to take.

19. I agree he gave a great speech, but disagree on his
appointment to an office. C'mon, think about it. He won't take something as trivial as Sec of State after being VP for 8 years!!!

He is done with his national public service in the White House. His role now is EXCELLENT the way it is...he has stature as ex-vp to get media play. And he does that so well. Oh so Well!

Why ruin his position now by encouraging him to be a lowly sec of some division? He won't take it and it shouldn't even be suggested.

23. Where was he in 2000? Where is Kerry in 2004?
This has to be said. Where was Gore's power supply in 2000? He was a dull robot during Election 2000 campaign.

He's changed now. Better late than never, but then we must remember that he isn't running. He can say whatever he wants.

And where can I find links of Kerry making such speeches? ALl his "I approved this message" campaign ads are even more dull than Gore's pre-2001 speeches.

24. Very good question
He has given more that one powerful speech since 2000. So why in bleeding hell didn't he let that version of Al Gore out during the campaign? If he had, he would have gotten enough votes to override Rethug cheating.

28. I agree
Gore is a man who thinks ahead. He saw the potential of the internet and tried to provide funding for its development. He understands the energy problems and global warming. Gore is a great man.

I heard him in 2000. I expected a boring speech but I was impressed. He spoke with passion. He was funny and warm. I think the press created this persona that wasn't true.

30. The one person who most deserves to be President in this country..
is Al Gore. He put in the time, did the work, and made the sacrafices,
kept his nose clean.

What happened to him is truely a tragedy. I know, he partially brought
it on himself with a lukewarm campaign in 2000, but it was hard to read
the country back then. It was hard to assess how much damage the
ridiculous Monicagate thing had done. And we didn't know then what
lows the Right-wing brownshirts would stoop to in this country, the details
or what they had done to Clinton, and what they were willing to do to get
Junior in office.

I know one thing: When Kerry is victorious next November, the person
I will most be thinking about is Al Gore. It will be a victory that should
have been his.

Here's to you, Al. :dem:

32. He'll be around
He may even make more of a contribution now - and not as an elected official. He's now the owner of a cable television station that will eventually begin producing its own stuff with a young audience targeted which will be huge. He will also be able now that he's not encumbered by the restraints of political office to be much more forthright in his convictions. We're lucky we have him. He'll be a force to be reckoned with for a long time to come.

:-( Al Gore is a Great man , I know that more
now than when I voted for him in 2000 .

He is My President .

I know he wanted to avoid the stife , looking back
perhaps things would of been handled differently
and if they had been I would of served .

The Rule of Law and the Constitution which I took for
granted before now are by my side .

Lessons learned that hopefully I can pass on .

Al Gore Is My President , if you see my

34. But do not cry for Al Gore.....
He has a beautiful family, and wonderful grandchildren to keep him happy for the rest of his days, if he so desires. What he has done, he has done because he thought it was the patriotic thing to do - as indeed it was. When not one leader in America could stand up and call the Bush regime for what it is and what they have done to our people and our reputation, Al Gore stood up with passion and courage and spoke the truth. If John Kerry wanted the most capable person to take over in case he were to falter or something were to happen, Al Gore would make a great Vice President of the United States.

He's got quite a few decades service left in him, DU Friend! We're going to need all hands on deck over the coming decade to straighten out the mess made by Tony the Fixer Scalia, the neo-confederates, the Stooge Family Bush and the rest of the BFEE.

First thing is to get rid of the Little Turd from Crawford and the Sneering Tinman. Solitary confinement in Leavenworth is a start. I've already volunteered for guard duty. Please know I'm buying a digital camera.
