. . .it sort of looks that Bob Dole is offering more than polite applause doesn't it. The Big Dawg knows how to wow 'em! Bob Dole obviously knows what a good leader is! Bravo Bill! Bravo Bob!

Former president Bill Clinton (news - web sites) prepares to speak during the Dole Lecture Series in Allen Fieldhouse Friday, May 21, 2004, in Lawrence, Kan. Former Sen. Bob Dole, right, cheers the former president's introduction. Clinton is the first speaker of the series which is presented by the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas. 2. They're buddies, right? Dole is old-school GOP
the kind that still had some modicum of scruples. Besides, it's not like Clinton is some liberal. He's barrely to the left of Zell.

16. Yeah, slap me.
The fact that Bush is evil incarnate does NOT mean that Clinton couldn't have done more. He compromised when he didn't need to, and in many ways we lost as much ground during his tenure as we did during the Reagan years. Unions were weakened, outsourcing was already a problem, welfare deform hurt many thousands of people, and the misguided drug war continued unabated.

Clinton was a decent republican president and a very likeable guy, but just comparing him to Bush, the absolute worst president ever, doesn't make him freaking FDR, or even Kennedy.

The poorest of the poor barely made any headway in the 90s while the rich were high on the hog, and DINOs' atttitude is like "You should be grateful that you're not completely going under like when a repuke is in office" What nerve the poor have for hoping for a better life, for wanting job security or labor representation, right?

19. I have to jump in here....

I just watched the speech Clinton gave, on a tape a friend made for me off of C-Span.

Compromise is honorable he said. Not dishonorable as the right would have you beleive. We live in a time of 'inter-dependance', I beleive that was the term he used. He likened compromise as 2 different basketball fans cheering for opposing teams. They remain friends even tho they disagree. They compromise on several levels and there is nothing wrong with that.

I say... Put Bill in as Vice-President.. or Sec'y of State!

15. Really? Clinton passed that?
Funny, the way I recollect, he and Hillary concocted a plan that gave ridiculous amounts of money to private insurers who shouldn't have been included at all, and then when they couldn't pass it, never bothered to try again.

Empowerment zones: Used often by the rich to finance their developments with no responsibility to repay - example - Miami's Parrrot Jungle theme park - owned by a millionaire, but empowerment zone loans were used so he could move it from the 'burbs to the more heavily trafficked Watson Island (where NOBODY lives, poor or rich)

Besides, I wasn't comparing him to Bush, which would be like comparing him to Hitler. I compared him to Zell, who is also a DINO.

26. If you'll read my post, you'll see that I'm not Clinton-hater.
He is a center-right democrat. That's a fact, it's not bashing. Excuse me for preferring democrats that act like democrats. I do not hate Bill Clinton. I have a great deal of affection for him. Hell, I don't even hate Red-Ink Reagan, and he presided over the beginning of the end of the New Deal & Great Society, while allowing his scummy traitor underlings sold weapons to our terrorist enemies in Iran. But it's hard to hate a nice guy like Ronnie.

Naderite? I'd vote for Clinton, Gore or Kerry in a second over Bush whether Nader was running or not.

You people need to save your bile for those who hate Clinton for having a penis and putting it to use. I will never fault him for that. He had some other failings.

The fact that nobody answered any of the criticisms and everybody just started calling names points up their validity.

Could it be that Dumbya isn't the only one with a cult of personality going on?

3. No doubt Dole personally likes Clinton way more than either Bush.
I never bought the idea that Dole and Bush made up. Dole may be a loyal Republican, but I am certain he still loathes the Bushes.

8. didn't Bush
try to lift up Dole's injured arm during a campaign rally in 2000 or something?

I think I remember seeing video of Bush up on stage with Dole, standing to Dole's right (his weak, useless arm that carries a pencil) and reaching for Dole's hand to raise in a victory pose.

Only to have Dole snatch his arm down and give Bush a nasty look, as if to say "Hey jackass, haven't you hard I don't have use of this arm."

Anyone remember that or was that a figment of my imagination?

But, remember, Dole donated money to McCain before he even gave money to his wife.

25. yes, he loves John Kerry also
they did work in the senate together so they know each other. but i saw kerry recently on tv , on larry king i think and bob dole was on also. they were discussing some primaries that were held that day and kerry had won. and they joked around with each other. it reminded me of the way bill clinton and bob dole always joke around with each other. you can only do that if you really like each other. bob dole said something about being kerry's vp and kerry said to him "oh bob, you are always on the top of my list". i thought it was nice.

18. I've read the whole thread and it's kinda depressing. Dole may be a
Republican but he's a perfectly decent fellow. No Neocon is Bob Dole.
Hell, I'd be comfortable with him as Kerry's running mate.
