DU is being called out by the Protest Warriors, what is up with this?
Edited on Sun May-23-04 11:59 PM by anarchy1999
Attention Dallas Fort Worth........this came from the board that has decided to shut down our weekly Halliburton Protest.

....
Attention ALL Protest Warriors!

The Democratic Underground is using their message boards to call for reinforcements for the next Halliburton Protest in Farmers Branch, TX!

How do I know?

A “little birdie told me”!

Link: Democratic Underground message board thread titled: "Has anybody here had any experience with this fun group? ProtestWarriors."

They are monitoring THIS forum, posting links to this thread, and quoting things that have been written here.

It seems they don’t like when someone else also wants to use their First Amendment right and express an opinion in a peaceful manner – especially if it runs counter to theirs.

---------------------------------

P.S - For you Du types, since I now know that you are monitoring this thread, be advised that I am not “retired” from the Marine Corps. I served Honorably from 1983 –1993, and had to leave the service of my country due to the “Reduction in Forces”. I enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard after “9-11” to serve in the War on Terrorism (which Iraq is a part of).

I joined Protest Warrior to allow me to enhance my ability to exercise the same right as you people do – freedom of speech.

I know how all of you LOVE to call anyone that doesn’t agree with you a “chicken hawk”. Well, this is one person who has put actions behind his words. Guess you will have to find another lame argument to try to discredit me.

Look forward to seeing you guys this Friday!

You can say “hello” to me!

I don’t bite (unless bitten)!

Absolutely not a nice bunch of people.

he should know better.

He cannot hold a political opinion and identify himself as a member of the armed forces

Well the UCMJ either means nothing to him, or... he forgot that...

What am I saying LGen Boykin has gotten away with giving an opinion in uniform and speaking for the Army.

He's in the guard. Aren't there politicians who are in the NG? They couldn't be politicians if they weren't allowed to express their opinions.

12. Not when they are activated
and the chances of being activated right now are pretty high

Also MOST politicians are NOT in the Guard, one Congressman who was not allowed to be activated when his unit was activated.

If they are not active then they can have an opinion... you are correct

But here is the kicker, you believe the guy ACTUALLY is in the Guard? He may or may not be. My experience with the web is that most who CLAIM to be in the service are not.

I know some who have, even on the right, but most on either side who claim such on line are not... or were not...

I will not question his service, but this is just a general observation from years on the web. For the record my service has been questioned as well... and these days I don't give a flying rats ass... but this posturing from him, is kind of the pissing contest of those who strike me as not really been there done that....

and then find out if they have been activated.

If they have... it is in the UCMJ... if he is CURRENTLY ACTIVE, contact JAG for his unit.

My ass. He's probably never put on a pair of combat boots before. Check that, he's OBVIOUSLY never served.

Just another jack booted Rethug Chickenhawk. He and his band of mouth breathers are probably funded by the RNC. Frankly, they all look like a bunch of couch potatoes.

respect his service and his right to voice his opinion.

It's people like Rumsfield and Bush and Cheney and just about every Republican in congress other than John McCain who are chicken hawks.

Edited on Mon May-24-04 12:42 AM by vetwife
Looked at his dates of service and he could be a Gulf war vet, but then again, who knows.....There are plenty of combat vets against this war so he may not be a chickenhawk but his commander in thief is ! Some folks can put the uniform on and sit in Florida and never leave stateside and get all big and bad, not to diss any vets out there who were fortunate enough to not see combat, but there is a difference between combat vets and non combat vets. Combat vets who have seen war up close and personal aren't so quick to rush to war. At least most combat vets I have talked to and I have talked to plenty ...don't approve of this thing. From a POW WWII captured at the Battle of the Bulge 82 year old Vet who is a dem, to a lot of combat VN vets. They are against Bush and Iraq !

15. I guess he doesn't know what a chicken hawk is.
Someone who plays "Lets YOU and HIM fight." Not someone who has actually seen action themselves.

He is someone who actually believes that Iraq had something to do with 9/11. Guess he thinks Saddam was flying one of the planes that hit the WTC.

If Saddam was such a threat,
Why weren't any of his neighboring countries as afraid of him as we were supposed to be?
Why didn't they come to us and beg us to help them rid the world of such a terrible threat?
Why weren't they with us in the initial penetration of Iraq?
Why aren't they in there with us now, helping restore order?
Why aren't they helping to finance this operation?
Why did they cause our gas prices to go up?

Met a few at a protest.

They have "cute" signs that blend in trying to look lefty
but with kooky right wing messages.

Lots of hate mongering and ultra-nationalist type slogans.

Funny one was "Make war. Then Love." I can only assume
that they had Abu Ghraib in mind. They are sick little bunch
of "free-speech" advocates.

The freedom to kill Arabs being at the top of their list
of "freedom" based causes.

they want to SILENCE YOU

Now try to get as many pals as you can (too far or I would be there, and I mean too far), and make sure you out number them, by quite a bit, and regardless of provocations et al, REMAIN PEACEFUL

By the way, just in case, have some training in non violent techniques and have street medic teams standing by...

Do you have friends that live anywhere near close and would like to join us in a peaceful protest? We will not need street medics, but we do need for everyone involved to go through peace keeping training which is what the Dallas Peace Center is all about! Dammmmnnn. This just isn't supposed to be happening.

"started" the whole thing? who are these Texans? Typical freeper b'shit if you ask me, claim to love America, but don't understand the bill of rights or that the founding fathers EXPECTED us to question our government loudly and often

I really wish some of these people would take the time to learn American history and what this country is REALLY founded on.

Heck many of these kids do not even know who Jefferson and Madison were... nor do they understand the genious of the Bill of Rights.

I took an oath to protect the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, at least in my estimation some of these radicals fall on the domestic side... though I am willing to teach them a tad of US History, starting with that band of merry revolutionaries called the Founding Fathers.

29. I'm in California
and having street medics is not a bad idea at any demonstration

I wish I was close, I would be there... but cannot be there nor do I know anybody in Texas who is close enough.

Full disclosure I was a Medic with a Red Cross National Society... no, not the American Red Cross, I have a clue about how bad things can go...

Free hint, if this should get violent, and somebody finds himself or herself under Medical Care, and as a suspect, and the police starts asking questions, keep those precious mouths shut...

Medics in the US rarely know they have to ask officers to step away until they are done and officers rarely mirandirize during medical care. Now if you are the victim of an assault, feel free to tell the cop all you know, the fresher the better...

23. I know, hard to understand, but you'd just have to live in Dallas to
understand. Most of us yet have still to understand what is happening here.

Most of us ask "who would Jesus bomb", and we have many other questions.

Go to klif.com and click on their rally they had last weekend and the prayer given by Bruce from McKinney Fellowship Bible Church. It would almost be amusing if my brother had not been best friends with this man and helped him to start this church. I guess it is understandable maybe why I no longer speak with my righteous brother.

McKinney Fellowship Bible Church is at the "support the troops rally" being sponsered by TalkRadio, KLIF. I'm in awe.

Dear Assholes from Protest Warriors who will, no doubt, read this:

This web site monitering your site does not infringe on your freedom of speech. It is simply gawking at your pathetic efforts to disrupt civilian protests. You have no ground to stand on when talking about disliking First Amendmant rights.

You guys are clearly disturbed by people who believe in different things doing just what your organization does.

We need Mike Ruppert, we need Dennis K., we need John Kerry. We have lots of work to do.

If you make your living at Halliburton, how can you possibly be opposed to their policies?

38. Major irony with Protest Warrior poster and PFC Lynndie England photo...
Noticed the right-wing poster depicting a ME woman on a leash as I looked over the PW site -- and it caused an immediate visual association with the image of the notorious Abu Gharaib "leash photo."

Just my opinion, but I'd say that this is more than a little bit ironic.

40. Something I've learned..
is to take cameras. Digital video cameras, cell phone cameras, the more the better. Take pictures of the counter protestors. It is a good deterrent, since if they do threaten or attempt to harm you guys, you will have their pictures for easy identification and possibly even video of their actions.

I get the feeling that the people organizing the counter-protest are probably payed for by Halliburton. Even pro-war people don't seem to be too enamored of Halliburton from my experience.
