2. I can see the link between total angst and Rush ...
I know some punks and they hate ALL politicians, but they'll take a Dem over a repug any day.

3. Do you think this is for real?
Or just some lame attempt by Republicans to draw in the youth vote?

Unfortunately, I think a lot of "disenfranchised" working class white kids have a lot of anger that could be turned into right-wing self-righteous rage.

5. That's exactly where the skin movement started...
..kids who were drawn in by loud, fast, aggressive music but who were also attracted to a "blame everyone else" sentiment.

There have been a lot of dubious groups who have recognized the disenchanted element among punk fans and appealed to their longing for a sense of community. Whether it was the more sketchy elements of the skin movement or even the Hare Krishna infiltration of hardcore punk in the late 80's or early 90's.

4. When their flagship member is Michael Graves......
a guy who sang for a band who reunited 15 years past their prime, exclusively to cash in on their cult status, even after their original singer who wrote most of their material refused to reunite.....you know you're in bad shape.

The whole site is comical. I'm not saying all punk needs to be leftist or even political, but this whole shtick is just sad.

But punk has always had a slight right wing streak, whether it was in the skinhead faction of it, or certain macho-type punk bands who appealed to the meathead faction of fans, or even the more reactionary hardcore straight edge types.

But still this is just silly overall.

11. No shit. I honestly don't know who is more pathetic.
Graves, or his former employer Jerry "Kryst The Conqueror" Caiafa.

Now all this talk of right wing "punk" is gonna force me to put on some Dead Kennedys. Which might not go over too well in the office

6. There may be ties between the fall of punk and the neocon movement
I used to be a punk back in the day. I recall the real spirit of the punk movement was killed by two things. It became popular. This was a death blow to be certain. But preceeding this was the arrival of the skin heads. When the skin heads first showed up they were about being angry and violent. They basically rejected the idea that being part of society meant being nice to one another. They wore their hatred on their sleeves for all to see and hoped that people would challenge them about it.

This parallels the neocon movement which seems to be mostly a reaction to the control they percieve Post Modern ethics has on society. They want to force their particular stances and moral codes on others and they don't care who gets in the way.

Neocons and skin heads seem to me to be cut from the same cloth.

10. this is rich!...
"It has recently come to our attention that there are several music venues that are blacklisting conservative artists. I was recently informed by Michale Graves that two venues, which his band Gotham Road was scheduled to play on their upcoming national tour, have backed out due to his political beliefs.

We at Conservative Punk are sickened by this blatant display of discrimination and intolerance, and urge you to speak out and voice your displeasure with this recent rash of left wing McCarthyism. The contact information for the two venues is as follows: "

hahaha! poor babies.
