"Some photos so graphics some lawmakers had to leave the room"
"I saw things that make me sick"

"I was completely unprepared for the magnitude and explicit nature of the acts"

"It had nothing to do with trying to "Break" the - it was sadomasochistic sexual humiliation."

the new photos more clearly show a "lack of oversight and a lack of supervision at the prisons"

"after watching the photo presentation for 40 minutes, and knowing the situation as I do, no one can tell me that this is about 7 reservists from Maryland" referring to US soldiers so far charged in the scandal. "it's about way more than that."

From Randi Rhodes today reading information about the hearings.

It's real, and its torture. Amnesty International says so. Human Rights Watch says so. The Red Cross says so. The international community says so. Those going through it would certainly say so. And I say so.

I have no control over what terrorist do to people they capture. But as a US citizen I have some control over what my government does in my name - and I want heads to roll over this every bit as much as I want us to find those responsible for murder of our citizens. No less.

1. No matter what the Bush*/torture apologists say....
...the CIC and the military work for the people. The people demand that they bring the guilty parties to justice and that ALL the evidence is made public.

2. Iraq treated our soldiers well when captured
though Rummy had the nerve to say that broadcasting an interview with U.S. POW's violated the Geneva, and warned the Iraqis to abide by it

the fucking asshole

4. The moral high ground has become a giant sinkhole
And it is sucking us all in.

What other reason did they have for explicitly ignoring the Geneva Convention? This is POLICY. And it is disgraceful. Never has such shame been brought upon us, and we have done some pretty shameful things.

I guess it's photography. We want transparency? We got it.

6. Seems that the congresspeople's reaction
and the limited descriptions are not matching up.
