Saw McCaine on last night & I thought to me self, 'man, Dave asks the BEST questions whenever he has politicans on.'Even when John Ashcroft was on he asked tought, intelligent questions.Hillary Clinton the same thing.

All Jay Leno can do is kiss ass & make dumb jokes. Its refreshing to see someone like Dave who knows when to be funny & when to be serious.Dave is the best late night comediane on the air,IMO!!!

1. Letterman to tape a show at 4 a.m.
http://us.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/05/07/tv.late.letterman.ap/

The show that airs on Friday, May 14 will be taped early that morning. Typically, Letterman tapes his Friday show on Thursday evening.

The other days of the week, Letterman tapes his show about six hours before it is aired on CBS.

The show will probably set up remote cameras, perhaps in Times Square, and show other street scenes. "The city is always interesting, but particularly interesting at 4 a.m.," Burnett said.

2. So, what were the questions he asked and what were the answers?
I meant to watch that but I fell asleep instead. Any details?

5. One question had to do with
whether or not this kind of prisoner abuse was common in war. McCain said that on the battlefield, soldiers caught up in frenzy have been known to kill prisoners. But he said the sexual humiliation in a prison system was new to him.

Dave also asked a most thoughtful question. He wanted to know what with all the bad news - what are we supposed to hang on to? What is the hope in this messed up situation.
McCain said as an idealist he hoped for an Iraq that embraced democracy - although he knew that it would have problems.

3. Damn right
Even though Sen. McCain is a republican and Dave attacks * at every opportunity, he lavished Sen. McCain with praise like Leno talking to Hugh Grant. And he did not shy away from asking about torture and beheading. Not your usual chat show fodder. Letterman is a real class act. He's not a celebrity ass-kisser like Leno. He's a goofball with more brains than anyone on TV. I can't watch any other chat shows; they are just cheap imitations. I think he even beats Carson at his best.

And Paul Shaeffer! Greatest sidekick band leader ever!

4. Yes he does!
Never miss his show when he has a politician on.
He is asking questions for information - not a self-serving gotcha. He also seems to have a moral compass - not a partisan one.

When Bush was on as a candidate, he asked a lot of questions about Bush's many executions in Texas. No one else did that.

7. I think Dave should try like hell
to get Bush back on & really corner him.I guarantee you he will ask tought questions.I think he'll be respectful, but tough. If Bush was smart,he'd go back on his show. But Bush is NOT smart & will run away from Dave in fear Dave will expose him as being even a bigger fool than he already is. I am certain John Kerry will appear between now & Novemeber.

6. Yeah yeah
Dave's my fave too, but Schaeffer gets on my nerves. Actually so does Dave, but he's funny so I can let it go. He's showing his strength during the media whore repression. I got worried about him when he was getting smeared by the WH about that yawning kid. Not the incident itself, but he was losing his cool and showing some raw anger there for a few days. But now he is back to being detached and that seems to be the trick in making fun of dubya, or asking tough questions. Actually his show isn't enough of a reason to reinstall cable, but it is one thing I really still like.

11. cable necessary for cbs
Because for some reason, in my viewing area you need cable to get any channels at all. I could get a basic cable rate that's fairly inexpensive. It's just that on the whole I am more agitated by watching tv , and I also tend to get more work done without that distraction. lol, du is already enough of a time drain- though fun and worth it- activity.

8. Only one asking W relevant questions in 2000 (on ANWR)
Didn't watch the show, but Dave has guts and brains. Most others are neutered.

9. He asked McCain about the chain of command chart,
and then made a joke about "the dog ate my homework."
It was classic.
