any time you use a hyperlink from one web page to another, the address of the original server is sent to the new server. So if anyone on DU clicked on the link you gave us on Tuesday, the server for ufba.org would know they had come from DU. If they choose to record this information, the owners of that site would be able to see a rush of viewers coming from DU, even if no-one registers with their site.

If it's important to avoid this, get people to paste a link into their browser's address field instead (you'd probably need to get them to type a little of it themselves to force them to do this).
