or are we too far gone? I think the Marshall Plan was generally a good thing, but I could understand some chafing from occupation. I may have had the naive notion that we were the folks in the white hats.

But since this war, this image has been summarily executed. The Illegitimate election-WMD debacle-depleted uranium-unknown civilian casualties-Abu Ghraib megascandal may have driven the final nail into the coffin of the rusty ol' cowboy that was the benevolent US.

Can we ever get this back, or is all lost? We are doing our reputation horrible damage in the Middle East and I fear some damage may be irreparable. I hope that Kerry can restore some legitimacy to the country, but we have stirred a hornet's nest in the past 3 years.
