Give me a link showing that most Democrats are Christians
I'm in an argument now with someone claiming that the Democrats are the anti-Christian party and Kerry would appoint people to his cabinet that would carry out an anti-Christian agenda.

3. Would anti-Christian agenda be so bad?
The republicans are carrying out a Christian agenda now and look at the mess we are in.

5. Then again . . .
the Third Reich was surprisingly secular.

Clarification: I know Hitler was nominally a Christian -- I am still kind of amazed at the secular nature of the Nazis (or Stalinists for that matter).

7. Stalin was an atheist so it shouldn't be suprising
and the agenda of the current administration is not truly Christian.

let's not paint all secular folks with Stalin's broad mustache (dipped in india ink).

Some of my best friends are secular humanists.

20. Hitler wasn't an atheist
And I get tired of people saying he was. He wasn't a Christian, but he certainly believed in god.

A more detailed argument here:

22. I added my "clarification" in post #5 . . .
to try to pre-empt your response. I still find it highly telling telling that Leni Riefenstahl made movies much more secular than, say, "The Passions of the Christ."

6. Define anti-christian.
According to some of them, it would be someone who will not allow religious power over the country.

8. Religions in America: 56% Protestant, 28% Catholic, 2% Jewish,
4% Other, and 10% identify with no particular religion. Kerry is a Catholic and the last I heard at mass, we were still a part of Christianity.

You are obviously arguing with an idiot. http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html#People

25. Well, the Fundies here told me we're not Christians.
They said that Catholics aren't Christians, they can't be Christians.

I told them we were Christians before being Christian was cool!

10. What else could most of them be?
The Jewish population of the entire US is around 5 million people...that's one half of one percent of the population... and that includes children. There are not too many more Moslems, Hindus, or atheists. Stands to reason, doesn't it....that most Dems are none of the above? What's left? Sheer logic....

18. As an atheist and a Dem, I am only concerned about the separation...
...of church and state, that the government not pursue any religious agenda. I still don't see how that is construed as "anti-Christian," but the right-wing fundamentalists seem to think that they're being persecuted when they aren't allowed to shove their religion down the throats of others. I don't care if people want to worship a stain on the rug as long as they don't try to make the entire nation do it.

The Democratic Party should be about freedom and diversity, not about what religion its members are. I think the fundies are intolerant and wrong, but I also believe they have a right to practice their religion--as long as it doesn't interfere with my rights as a citizen. Trying to paint the Democratic Party with a Christian brush is as useless as trying to paint it with an atheistic brush.

We're Democrats--Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, humanists, etc. I certainly don't want the Democratic Party to become the Christian Party, the Muslim Party or the Atheist Party. The idea is to bring wide-spread tolerance. That's the only way our planet will learn to get along.

21. Someone who goes to the trouble to inform you they're a Christian
probably is lying. Just watch what they do, and ignore what they say.
I often ask people who make the claim, "so why aren't you a Liberal like Jesus was?"

into thinking Dems are anti-Christian...don't even respond to it. It is just too stupid.
