Is the "stop loss" part of mutual agreement?
I was under the impression the govt's changing the troops' active duty time was not part of the original agreement.

1. I think it is a standard part of the enlistment form
(Of course, no 18 year old really reads this as the recruiter is flashing sign up bonus money in their face)

Yet another example where "war" is a many weasely word.

"c. In the event of war, my enlistment in the Armed
Forces continues until six (6) months after the war ends,
unless my enlistment is ended sooner by the President of
the United States."

2. Since the administration tells us that the "War on Terror" may never end,
this means that enlistment is for forever + 6 months. :wtf:

4. In fairness...
...this is not the first time this has happened and won't be the last. It happened for the "first gulf war," Kosovo, and Afghanistan (to my knowledge)...it was also the rule during WWII (but was an accepted fact, not a program with a "cute" name)

5. My dad always points out
That in WWII - when you enlisted, you were in until it was OVER. There were no elistment periods - your enlistment was for the entire war. Also when units deployed overseas, there was no "one year and you were back" - you just plain gone until you unit came back.
