Clinton crowed about her success when she made a surprise appearance on CNN's "Crossfire" to present conservative host Tucker Carlson with a cake shaped like a giant shoe. In the days after the book was released, Carlson had repeatedly promised to eat his shoes and tie if the book sold more than 1 million copies.


"The least I could do is give you something a little tastier" than eating a real shoe, Clinton said, presenting the cake to a thankful Carlson. She also gave him a copy of her book inscribed, "Tucker, you're No. 1 million in my book."


When co-host Paul Begala asked Carlson which part of the shoe he would like to eat first, Clinton interrupted, "Well, obviously the heel."

22. The AP gets it wrong again

Actually, it was Tucker who offered the line about eating the heel. I can understand where they were confused though, after rewatching my copy of the show, Tucker's voice was a little squeaky and high and might have been mistaken for a woman's.

All in all, a surprisingly friendly and deferential response from Tucker. What a great surprise from Paul and The Ragin' Cajun!
