The Greens need to reconsider their objectives?
After listening to Gore unvaivering critisism of Bush, and articulation of how to make the necessary changes, I wonder as to the true motivation of running a third party Green candidate for President.
Would they not be better served to join forces and focus on the number one task at hand? That being to oust the regime?

1. The Greens don't want to do that. They want to become a major party (nt)

4. As one who has voted Green
I'll tell you what I think the Greens are waiting for. They are waiting to see if the Democrats wake up and stop being Republican Lite. If that happens, there will be many Greens voting Democratic.

5. What Green candidate is running?
I have not heard one was running.

What is the purpose of your post?

Why would they want to join forces when you are lying about them now?

Sheesh!

6. Though the Greens haven't yet picked a specific candidate...
I believe they did decide in principle at a convention of some sort to run _someone_ in 2004 (though I would hope there's still the possibility that they could change their minds). (There were news articles describing a setup in which the person running the meeting told members/delegates to stand in different corners of the room depending on whether they supported running a Green candidate in 2004, in case that jogs anyone's memory.) The main possibilities seem to be Nader, Cynthia McKinney and a much-less-famous activist whose name I can't remember.

So while we don't know who it will be, the Greens have suggested strongly enough that there will be _someone_ for it to be appropriate for people to start asking what the party's priorities are and whether it might not be more appropriate for them to join forces. The Greens certainly have the _right_ to run their own candidate, but after what happened in 2000 I personally would find it very troubling if they did so given what they now know about the practical effects of doing so. (I believe, and I don't mean this as a personal insult to anyone at DU, that someone once defined insanity as doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result...)
