2. Bush was in Buffalo, N.Y. this morn. discussing the "need to renew this"
All the Buffalo TV channels carried his speech....CNN showed a clip of it, but showed nothing of the LARGE contingent of anti-war, anti-Bush demonstrators that were shown on Channel 2 , Buffalo...I wonder how many other cities have these same demonstrations when he gives his "speeches?"....

16. but the "sunset" provision does not cover sections 213, or 215
-----------------------

section 213: authorizes so called sneak and peak searches and seizures, which allow an indeterminate delay in notifying the subject that a search has occurred and evidence seized. section 213 allows agents to enter your home or your office when you are not there for criminal investigations that are in no way related to terrorism.

section 215: gives agents the power to demand, among other things, business information, reading histories, internet surfing data, medical records, firearm purchasing receipts under a 'rubber stamp' form of judicial review from the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. the attorney general himself admitted that 215 could be used to obtain even genetic information.

information taken from, The Progressive, April 2004: Ashcroft Watch by: Nat Nentoff

------------------------

the "sunset" provision of the pat act that permits parts of it to be reviewed by congress in dec. 05 does not include 213 and 215. we need kerry to take a firm stand on this. he should unequivocally defend our civil liberties. if he were to speak out about this in a firm manner he could gain a lot of credibility and momentum. he just seems to not want to do that.
