Right Here Folks, In Black and White...
"Here's what I feel about that: The person responsible for the attacks was Osama bin Laden. That's who's responsible for killing Americans. And that's why we will stay on the offense until we bring people to justice." - George W. Bush, 4/13/04

So, uh, I guess that's an outright admission that Iraq had nothing to do w/ 9/11? Or am I missing something?

2. And did you notice

how he made sure to distinguish between his assuming that it was Al Queda immediately after the attack, and then finding out for sure later on. It was almost as if he felt he had just let on that he always knew it was Al Queda.

I've learned to pay attention to whenever he feels he ought to explain himself. That doesn't happen too often

5. That was planned
as an attempt to counter Clarke's claim that Bush wanted to go after Saddam in response to 9-11.

6. Unbelievable failure of press
Yeah, I couldn't believe that there was no one underscoring that Bush barely mentioned the situation in Afghanistan, the actual source of the 9/11 attacks.

What about Afghanistan and Al Qaeda? No mention about Al Qaeda and the status of Afghanistan (other than as part of a laundry list of other places in which our military has been involved). Where does the US stand in the capture (or mortal end) of the 22 terrorists on the "Most Wanted Terrorists" list? Where does Afghanistan stand on the road to democracy and security? Is the Taliban regaining control? Does the central government have any authority beyond Kabul? What is the situation faced by women and girls in Afghanistan, today?

If "now is the time to talk about the war on terror", as Bush stated, then why aren't we talking about Afghanistan, al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Pakistan's madrassas and Saudi Arabia; rather than Bush's growing quagmire in Iraq?
