1. No he won't. The press corps is not up to it.
They will lose their jobs if they make Bush look bad.

11. I agree...Bushco owns the media. ...
I hope he proposes another constitutional amendment to end freedom of the press, they don't use it anyway! Maybe it'll wake their sorry butts up. All journalist should strike until they are allowed to be reporters again.

I'm personally hoping for a temper-tantrum/meltdown on national TV.

He has the questions in advance, he knows the reporters by name...it will be another in a long line of staged jokes...

Why you guys continue to be optimistic about the press is beyond me..

the corporations get fed up with him, there is not hope.

32. the reporters to be called on is arranged, at a minimum
he let that out of the bag at his pre-war press conference where he mentioned his "script" in calling on one of the reporters who he, suddenly, thought might not have a question. She obliged him by asking him to tell us all (as we sat by raptly) about his relationship to God and how that was getting him through this dark time.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he has the questions. He at least has a seating chart with the friendly reporters noted. I wish they'd play musical chairs on him.

Watch for David Gregory & Terry Moran. They're our best chance.

10. Is there a drinking game for tonight's press conference?
And yes, I have a feeling this press conference is going to sink him.

No, I don't think the press is going to be particularly aggressive in their questioning, initially. But I think Bush will dig himself a hole and the sharks will start to see the blood in the water.

Once they do, they will trip over themselves to be first to take this administration down.

14. What KILLs me if how the press is playing this
as if, if bush says the right things tonight, he can redeem himself. How does a rehearsed, scripted press conference un-do all of the damage that he has done?

33. Scripted

My only hope is that one of the preselected lackys goes "off the ranch"
and asks a question that isn't scripted. Then we get to see * go
ballistic on his/her ass and, of course, fumble the question. That
*would* toast him. Goin happin? Doubt it. But I can only hope.

I wonder if this is on a 5 second delay?

17. Don't get too excited
the only thing I will be looking for that I think is a slight possibility is some sort of tantrum or screw up on Chucklenut's part.

I do wish my friends weren't out of town--we could have a nice drinking game over this.

19. Don't count on it.
You better have more than one drink in case we're disappointed. These reporters have orders from their bosses to be nice so that their networks/papers won't be blacklisted and sent to the back of the room. Remember what happened to Helen Thomas.

The toughest questions will probably be: "Mr. President, how is your faith being tested by the recent events in Iraq? Like the rest of the American people, have you watched, "The Passion of the Christ?" Is it true you have appointed Mel Gibson to be our new entertainment czar?

may be tiring of the setbacks in Iraq? What can you say to the Iraqis who surely are equally discouraged?"

That's why I have a :puke: bag ready.

25. My prediction..
for what it's worth:

I don't watch TV, but I hit all the major news outlets on the Internet.

Dollars to donuts, CNN.com will have on their front page, the most forceful statement the chimp made during the conference, along with a picture of him looking very determined and presidental.

The headline will probably be a quote like:

WE WILL NOT GIVE IN TO THE TERRORISTS

26. Well, no one else seems to agree
But I do. The word is out, the marching orders are to bring him down. The media and the money that controls it installed him and his crowd in the first place, and it doesn't matter how much money he has, once they've decided they made a mistake, they will correct it. Paricularly since they now havew an acceptable alternative.
