The New Miss USA is a Republican

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Miss Missouri, Shandi Finnessey, a 25-year-old graduate student who has published a children's book, was crowned Miss USA at the 52nd annual pageant on Monday.

A Republican, she told Reuters she would use her position to help explain America's involvement in Iraq (news - web sites). "What needed to be done had to be done," she said.

I thought the prettiest (I watched the swimsuit part) were from Oklahoma and Tennessee. Odd, because they were both blondes, and I generally prefer brunettes.

Then maybe see what she thinks will spark job growth in the next quarter. And her postulation on how steady short-term interst rates will be over the summer and if long-term interest rates will affect the housing starts during the prime building season of 2004.

Gosh, I can't wait!

20. I don't honestly EVER remember KNOWING
the political affiliation, if any, of any crowned beauty queen before.

Is it SOP to announce their party affiliation now?

How completely freaking weird. I think it's pretty appropriate, though, that the bush administration would be recruiting beauty queens! ROFL!

So our new "beauty queen" in a bikini is a right wing, fundamentalist, Christian, Republican. WOW! What more do we need? We've got the soccer moms, the Nascar dads, the Christian Right and now the beauty queens. I am beyond impressed. They've (tin-foil time) got it all sewn up, don't they?

Oh and by the way MoonBeam, welcome to our "New World".

Be Happy.

34. Yes, it will be just like "All About Eve"
She sounds just about evil enough to unseat Paula Zahn from her perch. I notice a lot of the cable anchor women look like they have been getting plastic surgery lately, so the pressure must be on them.

"World peace" is so out of fashion now anyway. New, improved "Republican Warrior Jesus" has different goals than the old one for a wholesome girl to follow.

Miss France wins the Miss Universe and explains why attacking Iraq was the stupidest idea that any American president (or anyone else for that matter) had ever dreamed up?

I mean, Bush and his minions managed to make the shit they do on Jackass seem like a brilliant idea by comparison!

35. What didn't need to be done...
...didn't need to be done. Also didn't have to be done. What needed to be done was zero, therefore what had to be done was zero. What actually was done was greater than zero. We're still doing it. Someone please forward this mathematical explanation to Miss USA as quickly as possible.

39. What a magnificent role model for my three daughters...
I do believe that my seven year old could debate rings around Miss USA.

Of course, my seven year old is being raised to be a critical thinker which is obviously not what Miss USA's parents did. So, it wouldn't really be a fair debate.

41. "What needed to be done had to be done" how precious
that explains it really well. So, now we all know why and we should just all shut the f*ck up and support Dubya.

I wish I could see her first discussion with someone who opposes the war and confronts her with the facts. Will she break out in tears and run home crying?

I assume that most beauty pagent contestants are Republicans. Why would any Democrat participate? We all know that we Dems are just way smarter.

hair heads wanted 'world peace'.

add: this quote is almost as good
"...During the final question category, she was asked what serves her better in life -- experience or education. She immediately chose the former, saying "You can have all the book knowledge in the world, but to have the knowledge from experience. ... I think that teaches you more knowledge than anything you could possibly read in a book."

an explanation for the banality:
"...This was the second year that the Miss USA pageant aired on NBC. The network, a unit of General Electric Co ., co-owns the pageant with Donald Trump, a New York property developer..."
