I got a letter from a friend of mine this morning.
she's a young, 20 year old girl in the national guard. i've been worried sick about her ever since she was deployed to kuwait in january. now i find out that she's right in the middle of the current madness in iraq-in one of the most volatile areas.
this a really sweet kid who joined the guard a few years ago topay for college, thinking she'd be dealing with flood relief and other such things. little did she know she'd be sent over there by some asshole chickenhawk trying to fulfill his father and cheney's insane vendetta.
so, just after getting that, i pick up the local evening paper in our town, which, admittedly is slightly right-leaning, but after seeing this i was infuriated. i've been trying to call this prick to scream at him all day, but no answer.
this is the same guy who i had many an email debate with during the buildup to the war. he kept giving me the "oh, let saddam have his nukes-that's what you lib'ruls want" line, talking about imminent threats. i made the argument that iraq wasn't a threat and that we didn't need to kill civillians and endamnger people like my friend.
now he has the nerve to say that those of on the left are openly advocating for guerrillas to murder these same kids that we didn't want to send over there to fight a pointless conflict in the first place.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do these people live with themselves? seriously?
so now i have to spend my evening, for which i had orignally planned to go out and enjoy the nice weather, responding to this asshole. i'm so sick of this shit. this guy was so eager to send kids to fight his political party's wars. now he's trying to act as if he cares about them.
how do you folks keep from letting guys like these get to you?

Democrats
want another Vietnam
Remember the test from last year: Is it Tariq Aziz or is it Bob Byrd?
Remember the test from last year: Is it Tariq Aziz or is it Bob Byrd?
The Democratic Party continues to follow the lead of Saddam Hussein's deputy prime minister.
This week Ted Kennedy called Iraq "George Bush's Vietnam."
Byrd echoed the same line in a rather entertaining speech on the Senate floor.
The senators parroted Aziz, a fan of the Viet Cong. "We have the same determination," Aziz told the French daily Le Figaro.
"The Iraqi will fight in the streets and in each house against the Americans. Each village will become for them another Vietnam."
Aziz made that statement two years ago in February 2002.
The plan all along has been to try to create a public relations nightmare back home.
Democrats are willing accomplices. They care more about grabbing the presidency than about the security of the nation.
Even as Democratic officials take photo ops with troops returning from the front lines and promise veterans benefits, they put American lives at risk by giving hope to the Aziz strategy of guerrilla warfare.
John Kerry and Jay Rockefeller have a slightly different spin.
Kerry and Rockefeller voted for the war, a vote they say they now regret because no weapons of mass destruction were found.
Neither mentions the 300,000 bodies found in mass graves. In their lust for the White House, Democrats overlook Hussein's genocides.
