Hey DU! The BFEE wants to SHUT you UP!
Listen up, DU Friends! The BFEE stole one election, plundered and bankrupted California through ENRON, MIHOPED or LIHOPED 9-11, illegally invaded Iraq, killed thousands in the process and murdered countless witnesses and journalists. Bottom dwellers like these wouldn’t think it too low to steal another election, Reich?

So the point: The BFEE controlled FEC is moving to silence the voices of MoveOn.org, The Media Fund, America Coming Together, America Votes, and the rest of OUR DEMOCRATIC VOICES, the so-called 527 groups. Read and spread to your favorite journalist, commentator, union member, etc. These BFEE Bastards play some dirty pool.

RNC opens assault on anti-Bush groups

Complaint filed with FEC alleges collusion with Kerry campaign

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Republican National Committee launched a wide-ranging legal assault Wednesday on more than two dozen political groups working to defeat President Bush.

The committee says the groups are part of an "unprecedented criminal enterprise" to circumvent federal campaign laws and pour illegal soft money contributions into the 2004 race.

In a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission, the RNC also charged that the groups are illegally coordinating their advertising attacking Bush with the campaign of presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry.

The Kerry campaign is named as a respondent in the complaint, along with the anti-Bush groups, their leaders and some of their large donors, including billionaire financier George Soros and Hollywood producer Steven Bing.

The groups in question, including MoveOn.org, The Media Fund, America Coming Together and America Votes, are known as 527 groups after a provision in the tax code.

Government Gangsterism at Work

By Ted Rall, AlterNet
January 31, 2002

Unbridled legal hypocrisy is a recurring theme of the ideologically impoverished Bush imperium. When it suits their immediate aims, the Bushies wield the law like a club. But when the law proves inconvenient they chuck it out the window like a gum wrapper.

We've seen this schizy lurching between law-and-order conservatism and anarchic retro-Tricky Dicky Nixonism ever since November 2000, when the same campaign that sued under Florida's election laws to stop that state's ballot recount resorted to hired thugs and back-room deals when it became obvious that they were going to lose.

Born illegitimately of intimidation, this administration is waging its New War on Terror with the same graceless style. Before September 11, it used international organizations and legal strictures to impose economic sanctions on Afghanistan. As the Trade Center towers burned and Bush's polls soared, the last vestige of respect for law disappeared. Bush dropped bombs without declaring war, without bothering to formally request that the Taliban extradite Osama bin Laden, and without presenting a smidgen of proof that either the Afghan government or bin Laden had anything to do with the attacks on New York and Washington. "You're either with us or against us," Bush said, but "us" meant "me."

During the last few months, at least 6,000 people have vanished off the streets of the United States. Kidnapped by government agents, they have no idea when – or if – they will be released from prison. The Bushies say these people overstayed their visas, that they have links to Al Qaeda, that they don't wash their hands after using the toilet, that America is safer because they're behind bars.

3. Got an action alert from Moveon about this last night....
...so I donated, wrote to the FEC, and called my representatives (a pointless exercise where I live, but what the hell).
The RNC sucks. They say corporations have first amendment rights because corporations are people. Bull shit. The one I work for donates to Republicans, endorses Republicans (it's a newspaper), and have never once asked me what I thought about it. Organizations like Moveon make my donation speak as loudly as the CEO's so they want it stifled. More bull shit.

From Moveon:
<snip>
The Republican National Committee is pressing the Federal Election Commission ("FEC") to issue new rules that would cripple groups that dare to communicate with the public in any way critical of President Bush or members of Congress. Incredibly, the FEC has just issued -- for public comment -- proposed rules that would do just that. Any kind of non-profit -- conservative, progressive, labor, religious, secular, social service, charitable, educational, civic participation, issue-oriented, large, and small -- could be affected by these rules.

By the way, one thing FEC's proposed rules do not affect is the donations you may have made in the past or may make now to MoveOn.org or to the MoveOn.org Voter Fund. They are aimed at activist non-profit groups, not donors.

Operatives in Washington are displaying a terrifying disregard for the values of free speech and openness which underlie our democracy. Essentially, they are willing to pay any price to stop criticism of Bush administration policy.

We've attached materials below to help you make a public comment to the FEC before the comment period ends on APRIL 9th. Your comment could be very important, because normally the FEC doesn't get much public feedback.

Public comments to the FEC are encouraged by email at

[email protected]

Comments should be addressed to Ms. Mai T. Dinh, Acting Assistant General Counsel, and must include the full name, electronic mail address, and postal service address of the commenter.

More details can be found at:

http://www.fec.gov/press/press2004/20040312rulemaking.html

We'd love to see a copy of your public comment. Please email us a copy at [email protected].

Whether or not you're with a non-profit, we also suggest you ask your representatives to write a letter to the FEC opposing the rule change.

Some key points:

- Campaign finance reform was not meant to gag public interest organizations.
- Political operatives are trying to silence opposition to Bush policy.
- The Federal Election Commission has no legal right to treat non-profit interest groups as political committees. Congress and the courts have specifically considered and rejected such regulation.

Those are being forwarded to the proper authorities -- the American people.

The BFEE -- not just Bush, but the Norquist-Lucianne-Rush-RobertsonReed Axis of Evil types -- think that government isn't the solution. Government, they say, is the problem. Odd to think that in America. Our Constitution says the Government is "We the People."

Hypocrites they are, it's no wonder they make war on us. These are the pukes who hate our freedoms. Freedom of speech they fear, because if the American people discover the truth, the lucky ones will be spending the rest of their natural days in a federal penitentiary.

Until that happy day, the Moonie Times will lead the charge to Fox, etc:

46. Don't know. I "DU" know that I don't want DEMs muzzled.
What say you?

Here's what Neil Bush accomplished, WITHOUT A GUN!

The Bush family and the S&L Scandal

EXCERPT...

...Neil Bush was the most widely targeted member of the Bush family by the press in the S&L scandal.  Neil became director of Silverado Savings and Loan at the age of 30 in 1985.  Three years later the institution was belly up at a cost of $1.6 billion to tax payers to bail out.

The basic actions of Neil Bush in the S&L scandal are as follows:

• Neil received a $100,000 "loan" from Ken Good, of Good International, with no obligation to pay any of the money back.

• Good was a large shareholder in JNB Explorations, Neil Bush's oil-exploration company.

• Neil failed to disclose this conflict-of-interest when loans were given to Good from Silverado, because the money was to be used in joint venture with his own JNB.  This was in essence giving himself a loan from Silverado through a third party.

• Neil then helped Silverado S&L approve Good International for a $900,000 line of credit.

• Good defaulted on a total $32 million in loans from Silverado.

• During this time Neil Bush did not disclose that $3 million of the $32 million that Good was defaulting on was actually for investment in JNB, his own company.

• Good subsequently raised Bush's JNB salary from $75,000 to $125,000 and granted him a $22,500 bonus.

• Neil Bush maintained that he did not see how this constituted a conflict of interest.

I can't wait for the day when these members of the BFEE are all on TV all day long, just like during Watergate days. Then, at the end, the judge will receive the note from the foreman of the jury and annouces to Poppy, Smirk, Sneer, Ashcroft, Freeh, Rove and the whole bloody lot of them: "A jury of your peers has found you guilty of treason."

May all the BFEE rue the day they turned criminal.

45. Check. Also call the FBI on the whole bloody lot of them. Take Neil...
... for starters. Neil Bush's practices as the director of a Savings & Loan parallel the banking practices of Al Capone:

The Bush family and the S&L Scandal

The Savings and Loan industry had been experiencing major problems through the late 60s and 70s due to rising inflation and rising interest rates.  Because of this there was a move in the 1970s to replace the role of S&L institutions with banks.

In the early 1980s, under Reagan, regulatory changes took place that gave the S&L industry new powers and for the first time in history measures were taken to increase the profitability of S&Ls at the expense of promoting home ownership.

A history of the S&L situation can be found here:

http://www.fdic.gov/bank/historical/s&l/

What is important to note about the S&L scandal is that it was the largest theft in the history of the world and US tax payers are who was robbed.

A Pretty "Touching" "Family" "Line-up"

"Where's the other Fredo... Marvin?"

Here's how Neil treated his ex-wife (the woman he cheated on, and then caught herpes doing so, perhaps with some, um, prostitutes in ... Asia). From a deposition:

Bush: "I had sexual intercourse with perhaps three or four, I don't remember the exact number, women, at different times. In Thailand once, I have a pretty clear recollection that there was one time in Thailand and in Hong Kong."

Brown: "And you were married to Mrs. Bush?"

Bush: "Yes."

Brown: "Is that where you caught the venereal diseases?"

Divorce reveals Neil Bush secrets

The president's brother was divorced earlier this year

George W Bush's brother Neil outlined business deals and admitted to sexual liaisons with strangers in his divorce proceedings, a news agency has said.

Neil Bush was to receive $2m in stock options from a semiconductor firm despite having no education in the field, he told the court in March.

He also said he had sex with women in Asia who had come to his hotel room. He said they had not asked to be paid.

"It was very unusual," Mr Bush said in response to a lawyer's question.

Then there's the whole Scott Hinkley / John Hinckley Thing:

NEIL BUSH (AND HIS FAMILY)—I

In the millions of words written in the national news media about Neil Bush and his part in the Silverado Savings & Loan scandal, no reference has been made to an extremely significant fact of his life.

Neil Bush, son of the then vice president of the United States, was scheduled to have dinner on March 31, 1981, with Scott Hinckley, brother of John Hinckley, the day after a bullet came within an inch of making Neil Bush's father the new president of the United States.

Even though John Chancellor had let slip out this most remarkable assassination coincidence shortly after John Hinckley tried to kill President Reagan, it was censored by NBC News and the other organs of the national news media during thesubsequent 10 years. And even in the several months of extensive coverage of Neil Bush's part in the massive savings and loan fraud, no mention was made of his role in the continuing coverup of the most significant story in the 1980s.

Back in 1981, I thought the dinner engagement was so extraordinary that I looked everywhere for it in the days following Chancellor's raised-eyebrow report in the hours after the shooting. One magazine laughed at it and a few smaller papers carried a story by United Press International, but the Associated Press and the other major news outlets, in response to my numerous protests, made clear to me that they had no intention of letting the American people learn of Neil Bush's connection to the Hinckleys or, for that matter, the many other astonishing unanswered questions in the wake of the Bush-Hinckley coverup.

MAN SKINNED ALIVE AT SLAUGHTERHOUSE

Av Øyvind Ludt og Carin Pettersson 29.01.04 10:28

A 27-year-old custodian was sucked into a large machine used to skin animals at a Danish slaughterhouse.

The 27-year-old was cleaning the machines at the Danish Crown Slaughterhouse in Sæby when he was caught by one of the rollers and mowed into the so-called deskinning machine. According to the paper Extra Bladet, he was pulled through the massive machines a couple of times before a colleague heard the noise and managed to turn off the machines.

He was serious injured, and he was immediately taken to the hospital in Aalborg.

“It’s not life threatening, but he has been seriously injured,” said Otto Jystrup at the Directorate of Labor Inspection in Aalborg. “There are a lot to patch together.”

“The machine resembles a carwash, where brushes moves back and forth over the surface while rotating, but there the brushes consists of small metal plates which scrape off the bristle of the pigs,” Jystrup said.

The 27-year-old, who is of Afghani descent, has an open cranium fracture, pelvis fracture, and several bone fractures, in addition to many large wounds.

Hence our divided Nation, on one side, schizos who know not of reality/sanity. Unable to handle all but the simplistic. Easily swayed/fooled by the Master Pub Manipulators. They go about posing as normal but really are off the mark with Logic and Reason.

We need a group therapist who can handle large crowds. We need better. We need a solution.

41. I stand corrected.
Happily.

BTW: A message from one of Gov Bush's teachers:

At Harvard Business School, thirty years ago, George Bush was a student of mine. I still vividly remember him. In my class, he declared that "people are poor because they are lazy." He was opposed to labor unions, social security, environmental protection, Medicare, and public schools. To him, the antitrust watch dog, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Securities Exchange Commission were unnecessary hindrances to "free market competition." To him, Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal was "socialism."

47. God said a long time ago PARADISE IS HERE ON EARTH.
But somehow some Herders rooked the Sheep into thinking its someplace else, like over in the next Galaxy or dimension.

So this gives them license to look beyond Earth for Paradise not realizing its all here and will be until we selfextinct or the Sun goes bonkers in 5 or 6 billion years.

The real challenge is a SUSTAINABLE EARTH. Trouble is it requires Peace and Stability.... something that seems beyond our collective comprehension. I guess its the Tribal part of our friggen brain.. unable to see the big picture preferring the simplistic and the small. We Humans are good people but we have this part of our Society that somehow is focused on drilling holes in our one LIFEBOAT called Earth.

Come, I got steaks and ribs on the grill, cold beer in fridge. Come, we go sing.

51. The Endangered Tree Octopus!

The Pacific Northwest tree octopus (Octopus paxarbolis) can be found in the temperate rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula on the west coast of North America. Their habitat lies on the Eastern side of the Olympic mountain range, adjacent to Hood Canal. These solitary cephalopods reach an average size (measured from arm-tip to mantle-tip,) of 30-33 cm. Unlike most other cephalopods, tree octopuses are amphibious, spending only their early life and the period of their mating season in their ancestrial aquatic environment. Because of the moistness of the rainforests and specialized skin adaptations, they are able to keep from becoming desiccated for prolonged periods of time, but given the chance they would prefer resting in pooled water.

The Bush-Saudi Connection

By Michelle Mairesse

EXCERPT...

Jihad

The Wahhabi Taliban in Afghanistan had the blessings of the Saudi royal family and of The Big Three--the bin Laden family, the al Ahmoudi family, and the Mahfouz family--the richest clans in that medieval kingdom. (A C.I.A. official testified to Congress that Khalid bin Mahfouz is bin Laden’s brother-in-law). The desert oligarchs profited from world-wide investments as well as sleazy banking schemes such as the infamous Bank of Credit and Commerce International.

Salem bin Laden, Osama’s brother, has conducted all his American affairs through James Bath, a Houston crony of the Bush family. Bath’s former business partner Bill White testified in court that Bath had been a liaison for the C.I.A. In 1979 Bath invested $50,000 in Arbusto, George W. Bush’s first business venture. Rumor had it that Bath was acting as Salem bin Laden’s representative. "In conflicting statements, Bush at first denied ever knowing Bath, then acknowledged his stake in Arbusto and that he was aware Bath represented Saudi interests." (4)

In addition to doing aviation business with Saudi sheiks, Bath was part owner of a Houston bank whose chief stockholder was Ghaith Pharaon, who represented the Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI), a criminal global bank with branches in 73 countries. BCCI proceeded to defraud depositors of $10 billion during the ‘80s, while providing a money laundry conduit for the Medellin drug cartel, Asia’s major heroin cartel, Manuel Noriega, Saddam Hussein, the C.I.A., and Islamist terrorist organizations worldwide. (5)

Big Three wheeler-dealer Khalid bin Mahfouz, one of the largest stockholders in the criminal bank, was indicted when the massive BCCI banking scandal blew apart in the early 1990s. The Saudi royal family placed him under house arrest after discovering that Mahfouz had used the royal bank to channel millions of dollars through fake charities into bin Laden’s organizations, but Mahfouz was not so much punished as inconvenienced. MoveOn.org to Counter Bush's Ad Blitz

LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - A Democratic-leaning online group will run television commercials in 17 presidential battleground states starting Thursday to counter President Bush's multimillion-dollar advertising blitz that will begin the same day.

The MoveOn.org Voter Fund has been airing commercials assailing Bush for months in several swing states, but this $1.9 million, five-day effort will be its most far-reaching. The ads will ensure that there is a Democratic presence on the TV airwaves in key states as Bush begins to make his case for re-election.

John Kerry, the Democratic front-runner, is considering a modest response designed to put the White House on the defensive, advisers say, but the Democratic National Committee is waiting until there is a nominee before it starts running ads. That leaves outside groups like MoveOn, acting independently of the campaign, as the primary Democratic voice.

Other such groups, nicknamed "527s" after the section of the tax code that applies to them, and traditional lobbying organizations may follow soon.

Krugman's on the case, too...

Lifting the Shroud

By PAUL KRUGMAN
Published: March 23, 2004

From the day it took office, U.S. News & World Report wrote a few months ago, the Bush administration "dropped a shroud of secrecy" over the federal government. After 9/11, the administration's secretiveness knew no limits — Americans, Ari Fleischer ominously warned, "need to watch what they say, watch what they do." Patriotic citizens were supposed to accept the administration's version of events, not ask awkward questions.

But something remarkable has been happening lately: more and more insiders are finding the courage to reveal the truth on issues ranging from mercury pollution — yes, Virginia, polluters do write the regulations these days, and never mind the science — to the war on terror.

It's important, when you read the inevitable attempts to impugn the character of the latest whistle-blower, to realize just how risky it is to reveal awkward truths about the Bush administration. When Gen. Eric Shinseki told Congress that postwar Iraq would require a large occupation force, that was the end of his military career. When Ambassador Joseph Wilson IV revealed that the 2003 State of the Union speech contained information known to be false, someone in the White House destroyed his wife's career by revealing that she was a C.I.A. operative. And we now know that Richard Foster, the Medicare system's chief actuary, was threatened with dismissal if he revealed to Congress the likely cost of the administration's prescription drug plan.

SNIP...

On "60 Minutes" on Sunday, Mr. (Richard) Clarke said the previously unsayable: that Mr. Bush, the self-proclaimed "war president," had "done a terrible job on the war against terrorism." After a few hours of shocked silence, the character assassination began. He "may have had a grudge to bear since he probably wanted a more prominent position," declared Dick Cheney, who also says that Mr. Clarke was "out of the loop." (What loop? Before 9/11, Mr. Clarke was the administration's top official on counterterrorism.) It's "more about politics and a book promotion than about policy," Scott McClellan said.
