Why doesn't Gray Davis jus resign?

I lived in California under Davis, and I can say that I was never impressed.

They were after Gray Davis, not Cruz.
And they risk REALLY pissing off Latino voters if they try to pull that same shit on Bustamante.

And as a bonus, Gray Davis can play Democratic political martyr and REALLY fire up the Dems voting bases.

Davis was never impressive, but lo and behold he was elected twice. The recall is baseless. And now that Ahnold is involved, Darrell Issa, whose money bought and paid for the recall, is totally marginalized, as is Bill Simon the Nutcase, who lost to Davis last fall.

So, Darrell Issa is actually a really stupid politician because he completely miscalculated how this would play out. He thought that he would be seen as a hero with the recall effort and get elected. And Riordan gets screwed again, just like he did last year in the primaries against Simon, only this time by his friend Arnold.

How will the fundies, who are really the strong ones of the California GOP (which is why Simon won the primary), square with Arnold, assuming he should become governor, with his Pro-choice, Pro-gay rights attitude?
