Why doesn't Gray Davis jus resign?
Bustamante will be become Governor and the repug's, including hasta la'vista baby, will have major rotten egg on their face including Karl Rove.

Now is not the time to be giving Bush another photo op and major "Victory" headlines.

he was re-elected not even a year ago.

2. Because. . .
We cannot give in to the Republicans each and every time they want to change the election of someone they don't like. Like Bill Maher says, Republicans like every kind of election except the ones where they have to earn the most votes.

Or something like that.

3. Unfortunately
even if he resigns the recall election will continue.
David had a window of opportunity to do that but refused.

7. that was stupid and selfish of him
His is unpopular with everyone, including Democrats, and if he had the opportunity to stop this recall, he should have.

I lived in California under Davis, and I can say that I was never impressed.

4. I was wondering that myself.
I'm not a Californian and I have no idea how their laws work, but that seems to me the smartest thing to do. Why go the other route?

9. If he can, he just might do that, and give the helm to Bustamante.
What are the Repukes gonna do, try to recall Bustamante??
They were after Gray Davis, not Cruz.
And they risk REALLY pissing off Latino voters if they try to pull that same shit on Bustamante.

And as a bonus, Gray Davis can play Democratic political martyr and REALLY fire up the Dems voting bases.

11. No, at this point let the farce continue
This is going to expose the Repukes for the power-grabbing, win at all costs idiots they are. I hope there are 600 people on the ballot and it costs a ton of money. I love a circus!

12. no way...
Davis was never impressive, but lo and behold he was elected twice. The recall is baseless. And now that Ahnold is involved, Darrell Issa, whose money bought and paid for the recall, is totally marginalized, as is Bill Simon the Nutcase, who lost to Davis last fall.

So, Darrell Issa is actually a really stupid politician because he completely miscalculated how this would play out. He thought that he would be seen as a hero with the recall effort and get elected. And Riordan gets screwed again, just like he did last year in the primaries against Simon, only this time by his friend Arnold.

How will the fundies, who are really the strong ones of the California GOP (which is why Simon won the primary), square with Arnold, assuming he should become governor, with his Pro-choice, Pro-gay rights attitude?
