An hour and a half ago, I realized Guy would be on soon. So, I quick got to the market to do the weekly shopping, then picked up meds at the pharmacy. Came home and made a big pan of breaded chicken wings - put them into the oven, hot water on to make the elbows for macaroni salad. Fixed the bed and put a load of laundry on.

Sitting back, now, and ready for the party! Go Guy Go!!!

16. pResident is Depressed
A lobbyist, on his way home from work in Washington, D.C., came to a dead halt in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow,this seems worse than usual." He noticed a police officer walking between the lines of stopped cars, so he rolled down his window and asked, "Officer, what's the hold-up?" The officer replied, "The President is depressed, so he stopped his motorcade and is threatening to douse himself in gasoline and set himself on fire. He says no one believes his stories about why we went to war in Iraq, or the connection between Saddam and al-Qa'ida, or that his tax cuts will help anyone except his
wealthy friends; the press called him on the lie about Iraq trying to buy uranium from Niger,Terrorism Czar, Richard Clarke, is reporting on his dereliction of duty, and now Campbell Brown is threatening to sue him for a sexual innuendo he made at a recent press conference. So we're taking up a collection for him."

The lobbyist asks, "How much have you got so far?"

The officer replies, "About 14 gallons, but a lot of folks are still
siphoning."

18. Bush Ignored Terrorism (p1)
In the face of Richard Clarke's well-documented testimony to the 9/11
commission yesterday, the White House is continuing to say that it made
counterterrorism its top priority upon coming into office in January 2001.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan, echoing similar comments from top
Administration officials, said that "this Administration made going after Al
Qaida a top priority from very early on" in the face of increased terror
warnings before 9/11. But, according to the public record, the
Administration made counterterrorism such a "top priority" that it never
once convened its task force on counterterrorism before 9/11, attempted to
downgrade counterterrorism at the Justice Department, and held only two out
of more than one hundred national security meetings on the issue of
terrorism. Meanwhile, the White House was cutting key counterterrorism
programs -- Bush himself admitted that he "didn't feel the sense of
urgency" about terrorism before 9/11.

According to the Washington Post, President Bush and Vice President Cheney
never once convened the counterterrorism task force that was established in
May 2001 -- despite repeated warnings that Al Qaida could be planning to
hijack airplanes and use them as missiles. This negligence came at roughly
the same time that the Vice President held at least 10 meetings of his
Energy Task Force and attended at least six meetings with Enron
executives.

Bush Ignored Terrorism (p2)
Similarly, Newsweek reported that internal government documents show that, before 9/11, the Bush Administration moved to "de-emphasize"
counterterrorism. When the "FBI officials sought to add hundreds more
counterintelligence agents" to deal with the problem, "they got shot down" by the White House.

Additionally, the Associated Press reported in 2002 that "President Bush's national security leadership met formally nearly 100 times in the months prior to the Sept. 11 attacks yet terrorism was the topic during only two of those sessions." This is consistent with evidence Clarke has presented showing that his January 2001 "urgent" memo asking for a meeting of top officials on the imminent Al Qaida threat was rejected for almost eight months. At the time, the White House said that they simply "did not need to have a formal meeting to discuss the threat".

Finally, the White House threatened to veto efforts putting more money into counterterrorism, tried to cut funding for counterterrorism grants, delayed arming the unmanned airplanes that had spotted bin Laden in Afghanistan, and terminated "a highly classified program to monitor Al Qaida suspects in the United States .

23. Bush Admits Negligence but he couldn't predict airplanes to strike
Bush yesterday once again tried to fend off charges of gross negligence before 9/11, saying, "Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to strike America, to attack us, I would have used every resource, every asset, every power of this government to protect the American people." But with more evidence emerging this week that the White House received repeated warnings before 9/11 of an imminent Al Qaeda attack, the President's "had I known" defense raises two disturbing scenarios: Either a) the Administration is telling the truth, actually did not know of the threat despite receiving repeated warnings and was totally oblivious to a brewing national security crisis. Or b) the Administration is not telling the truth, actually knew about the threat from the warnings it received, and yet still failed to act with adequate urgency. See a list of warnings the Administration received before 9/11 and what they failed to do in response.

Also see these internal government documents showing how the Administration downgraded and tried to slash funding for counterterrorism before 9/11.

26. Another National Security Official Comes Forward
Salon.com editor Sidney Blumenthal reports that Clarke's assertions about the Bush Administration's complacency are now being corroborated by another former Bush national security official. "Gen. Donald Kerrick, who served as deputy national security advisor under Clinton and remained on the NSC for several months into the new Bush administration, wrote his replacement, Stephen Hadley, a two-page memo." Kerrick noted he said in the memo "they needed to pay attention to al-Qaeda and counterterrorism. I said we were going to be struck again. We didn't know where or when. They never once asked me a question nor did I see them having a serious discussion about it. They didn't feel it was an imminent threat the way the Clinton administration did. Hadley did not respond to my memo. I know he had it. I agree with Dick that they saw those problems through an Iraqi prism. But the evidence wasn't there."

29. Bush Rewards Pakistan Dictator with $Billions
http://www.indianexpress.com/full_story.php?content_id=43789

Saturday, March 27, 2004
Despite the piquant situation Pakistan is in today, US rewards still come thick and fast

Coming as it does so soon after the US declaring Pakistan a major military ally, President Bush's waiver of sanctions imposed after the 1999 military coup, smacks of a lack of principle or consistency in American policy. The logic, of course, is that this would facilitate the transition to democratic rule in Pakistan. If this was the only reason, then it should have come soon after the elections last year, despite their obvious limitations. More important, perhaps, is the second part of the stated reason that lifting sanctions are important for the US war against terrorism; a war that has stalled badly because of shifting priorities in Washington.

The US had earlier granted a five-year $5 billion loan and waived off $1.5 billion in debts. Given the perilous position of the Musharraf regime, the US move would come as a relief to Pakistan, although it does not seem to have evoked any great enthusiasm at the popular level.

33. Most Tasteless Display Of All Time, It Will Go Down In History
So Iraq is a big joke to President Bush. The frat-boy president
thinks that not finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, at the
cost of a nation ruined and tens of thousands killed, is a towel-
snapping hoot. In perhaps the most tasteless display ever put on by
a president, Bush made a funny out of Iraq at last night's Radio-TV
Correspondents Association dinner. (No, I didn't go to that event. I
haven't ever been to one of those yuck-yuck insider sessions ever,
and I wouldn't go if I were invited, unless it were to investigate
the participants.)

101. Difference (as I see it) is

Bush is the fuctard who told the lies that got people killed and is now trying to deflect attention by making a joke out of his dishonesty and/or incompetence. And in a way he is saying to the public what a bunch fools you are for believing what I told you. So what if I got your friends, relatives and innocent Iraqis killed for no good reason.

When other people might make a joke such as Kucinich saying that Bush wanted to go to Mars so he could look for WMD, it's bringing to peoples attention that all along the skeptics like Kucinich have been trying valiantly to point out Bush was full of shit and would get people killed and cause further death and destruction without justifiable cause.

42. Another Mysterious Accident Solves Bush Problem
http://www.freepress.org/columns/display/3/2004/853

March 17, 2004

The subject line on yesterday's email read: "Another mysterious accident solves a Bush problem. Athan Gibbs dead, Diebold lives." The attached news story briefly described the untimely Friday, March 12th death of perhaps America's most influential advocate of a verified voting paper trail in the era of touch screen computer voting. Gibbs, an accountant for more than 30 years and the inventor of the TruVote system, died when his vehicle collided with an 18-wheeled truck which rolled his Chevy Blazer several times and forced it over the highway retaining wall where it came to rest on its roof.

For anyone who hasn't seen the story about FBI translator Sibel Edmonds calling Condi a liar and saying they had evidence of hijacking threats back in June and July of 2001 and that they knew that hijackers were plotting to use planes as weapons. Check out these links.

65. Sibel Edmonds
I called the 9-11 Commission yesterday, asking that Sibel Edmonds be called to testify before the Commission in public. The receptionist instructed me to send an e-mail message to the Commission, requesting that they take such testimony. Their e-mail address is:

[email protected]

If enough DU'ers request public testimony from Sibel Edmonds, they are likely to seek testimony from folks like her exposing Condi's deceptions, false statements, and betrayal of public trust.

http://counterspin.blogspot.com/2004_03_21_counterspin_archive.html#108015552084116835

TAPE DISPENSER: I think I may have found a means to determine who is telling the truth about the Bush administration's plans to fight Al Qaeda (or lack thereof), and who isn't.

It stems from an interesting exchange CIA Director, George Tenet had with 9/11 Commissioner Tim Roemer.

TENET: Well, the CIA is in the CSG meeting as well. I mean, everybody's at the table. The FBI is there, the NCS is there, CIA is there, domestic agencies are there.

Throughout this time period -- I don't have access to the minutes and recordings of what happened -- what actions were they tasking, how were they thinking about this.

61. Bush Was Briefed: "Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US"
Aug 6, 2001 Memo Focused On Attacks in U.S.
Lack of Fresh Information Frustrated Bush

By Bob Woodward and Dan Eggen
Saturday, May 18, 2002; Page A01

The top-secret briefing memo presented to President Bush on Aug. 6 carried the headline, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.," and was primarily focused on recounting al Qaeda's past efforts to attack and infiltrate the United States, senior administration officials said.

The document, known as the President's Daily Briefing, underscored that Osama bin Laden and his followers hoped to "bring the fight to America," in part as retaliation for U.S. missile strikes on al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan in 1998, according to knowledgeable sources.

Bush had specifically asked for an intelligence analysis of possible al Qaeda attacks within the United States, because most of the information presented to him over the summer about al Qaeda focused on threats against U.S. targets overseas, sources said. But one source said the White House was disappointed because the analysis lacked focus and did not present fresh intelligence.

64. Brits Warned Repeatedly al-Qaeda Would Hijack
http://www.sundayherald.com/24822

Sunday Herald - 19 May 2002
Britain warned US to expect September 11 al-Qaeda hijackings
By Torcuil Crichton, Westminster Editor

Britain gave President Bush a categorical warning to expect multiple airline hijackings by the al-Qaeda network a month before the September 11 attacks which killed nearly 3000 people and triggered the international war against terrorism.

The confirmation of repeated British intelligence warnings about al-Qaeda hijackings -- first established by the Sunday Herald in 1999 -- comes amid claims that the US intelligence community has now received further information of an imminent second wave of terrorist attacks on America.

According to US government officials, the British warning of al-Qaeda plans to hijack US airliners was contained in a crucial briefing sent to Bush on August 6, a month before the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

The U.S. ignored foreign warnings, too

The road to Sept. 11

ATHENS When the hubbub about what the White House did or didn't know before Sept. 11 dies down, Congressional or other investigators should consider the specific warnings that friendly Arab intelligence services sent to Washington in the summer of 2001.

Jordan and probably Morocco advised U.S. and allied intelligence that Al Qaeda terrorists controlled by Osama bin Laden planned major airborne terrorist operations in the continental United States.

After verifying the authenticity and content of those messages, Washington-based investigators should find out how seriously they were considered and what defensive operational conclusions, if any, were drawn.

Bush Says He Had No Advance Warning of 9/11
By Caren Bohan

NASHUA, New Hampshire (Reuters) - President Bush insisted on Thursday he had no advance warning of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as he challenged the assertions of a former aide who accused him of not placing a high enough priority on pursuing al Qaeda prior to the tragedy.

Visiting a community college in the election swing state of New Hampshire, Bush tried to shore up his credibility on national security, which may be key to stopping Democrat John Kerry from taking the White House from him in November.

"Had I known that the enemy was going to use airplanes to strike America, to attack us, I would have used every resource, every asset, every power of the government, to protect the American people," Bush said, appearing with Cheryl McGinnis, the wife of a pilot killed in the attacks.

75. Rep. McKinney Was Right
Rep. McKinney Accuses Bush of Profiting From 9/11

Friday, April 12, 2002

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration may have had advanced notice of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks but failed to stop them in order
to profit from the destruction, a Democratic congresswoman alleges.

"We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11. What did this administration know and when did it
know it, about the events of September 11? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were
needlessly murdered? … What do they have to hide?" asked Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, according to The Washington
Post.

A spokeswoman at KPFA94.1 FM in Berkely, Calif., confirmed that McKinney had spoken on air from their studios on March 26. The staff
was scrambling to answer reporters' phone calls and to get the audio from that session up on their Web site Friday.

A White House spokesman dismissed the allegations, calling them "ludicrous, baseless views."

77. Why 9/11 Was Allowed To Happen
http://www.lowcountrynow.com/stories/080103/LOCrose.shtml
by John David Rose (link is still good, read it all)

If you want to know why 9/11 was allowed to happen you may not have to look any further than the Oval Office.

A little more than a month before the attack, in his Aug. 6 daily intelligence briefing, Bush was "told that morning of the al-Qaida terror network's interest in conducting a strike within the U.S., and that it might involve highjacked airplanes," reports the Wall Street Journal (7/24/03.)

Why didn't he order airlines to be alerted, inform the Federal Aviation Administration of the threat, put the military air commands on a high level of readiness and tell the FBI, CIA and INS to be super vigilant?

He brushed the warning aside.

But perhaps the Bushies had a reason for ignoring the warnings. Something brushed over in the Congressional 9/11 report suggests the possibility of one of the worst conspiracies of American history.
