1. Yes. I know this at best third-hand, but it's amazing how much
Democratic senators--good ones, with proper principles and ideals--are simply clueless.

2. This is an excellent point.
Why did Congress agree to invade Iraq when there was no evidence to support their involvement in 9/11?

3. Does congress even have the knowledge available to make
a decision on whether we should go to war?

They are supposed to be charged with that responsibility but it looks like they are incapable of getting the information needed to make this judgement.

Either that or they KNEW there was no connection but they decided to go to war anyway.

Are they complicit in this deception?

5. Could it have anything to do with
everything that is not to the liking of this administration is kept out of circulation in the name of national security.

7. The executive branch and the media
whipped the country into a frenzy using distorted intelligence, which put pressure on the Senators to go along. . Clarke worked in the executive branch. He did his job which did not include sneaking executive branch documents off to the senate.

8. You are saying our senators decided to go to war because they were
PRESSURED.

How pathetic is that?

Damnit none of these people running out country are COMPETENT.

9. Most politicians
will follow public opinion when it gets up to 60+ percent. The pressure was applied back in October on the vote for the IWR. And at the same time the pResident assured them he would take steps to build a coalition at the UN before going in. OF course we know what happened. Also, I would remind you that a President can send troops into conflict without COngresses approval. The only control congress really has is on the purse strings.

10. If Rice didn't even tell the Prez that people were worried about terrorism
then why would anyone tell the Congress?

12. Maybe our Senators should spend some time on the web...
...if they're so out of the loop.

Seems like people who read DU and atrios.blogspot.com and corrente.blogspot.com get a pretty quick roundup of the days top political stories.

Maybe our Senators need to take an internet class.
