Eric Alterman and Mark Green’s book, The Book On Bush, How George W. (Mis) leads America. offers insight into the lying strategy of the Bush/Cheney administration and the Republican strategy to flim-flam the American people with the big lie.
Alterman and Green revel two memos from Frank Luntz, a top Republican pollster and strategist, the President and the Republican Congressional leadership:
Luntz on the environment: (Luntz) advises Republicans to call themselves “conservationists,” not “environmentalist” ; to talk about “climate change,” instead of the more alarming “global warming”; and to foster skepticism about the science of environmental problems.
Luntz on lying in general: “A compelling story, even if factually inaccurate, can be more emotionally compelling than a dry recitation of the truth.”
To me these memos are both very telling and very damning.
