Who FIRST Started Playing Politics With Terrorism?

I find it nauseating to listen to the Right claim that it's the Left that's playing politics with terrorism. I think it's quite clear that it was the Bush Junta who cynically used 911 as cover to fight a war with Iraq they always planned for anyway. It's Bush's MO... to use events as political cover to mask political moves. He did the same pretending that tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy were part of a stimulus package... hoping the recovery would happen anyway and he could praise his irresponsible tax cuts.

The simple fact is that I know Al Quida is at war with modernity. I or people I love could have been at the WTC on 911. Al Quida did not care who they murdered. We are all guilty by virtue of living in the US and not being extremist Muslims. They MUST be fought.

That being said my criticism of Bush's attack on Iraq is because I NEVER saw it as helping OUR security. It was a diversion AWAY from the war on terror. It's given Bin Laden a 12-18 month holiday while Bush tried to mop up his family grudge match with Saddam. Given the timing of the current offensive in Afghanistan, it looks as if going after Bin Laden was held off until the political timing was right.

Bush invented a case against Iraq yet does everything possible to conceal a real terrorist connection to the Saudi Royal family. Bush got his war. Now the bulk of the US armed forces are bogged down in Iraq. It's cost us some 550 GIs.... thousands wounded... and nearly 200 BILLION. Iraq might degenerate into a civil war. For politics sake.... Bush might even let Iraq become another Islamic state. In the meantime he's let Afghanistan fester. Bush has let mad-dog Sharon run wild as the Arab world watches appalled. Bush's need to play politics has inspired a new generation of terrorists who believe the US is more out of control than ever and Al Quida is the only force that has struck at the US homeland.

That's all quite a high price for ALL of us to pay for BUSH'S politics.
