19-year old Brendan Walsh of Endwell is in Federal custody.
The FBI and Vestal Police believe he's responsible for vandalizing a military recruiting station at the Vestal Plaza.
There were two incidents, one in April and one in June.
Plaza surveillance video caught a rough picture, but it took technology at Broome County Sercurity to make the image clear enough to identify Walsh.
"The video the lab got was good quality," B.C. Security officer Nathan Warner tells Action News. "We got the evidence Vestal P.D. needed."
Police say the incidents happened just a few weeks after war started with Iraq.According to Vestal Police Lt. John Taylor, "Mr. Walsh has a displeasure for the government and the war."
Walsh is accused of hurling a molotov cocktail through a window at the recruiting station in April.
Police say it was a bottle full of some kind of fuel lit on fire, but it never exploded. He's also suspected of smashing a window at the station in June.
Broome County Fire Investigator Thomas Vroman affirms that the firebombing attempt could have been very destructive.
"It could have potentially been a substantial fire that could have gutted out the military recruiting center but also substantial damage in the plaza."
Walsh's charged with attempted arson of a government-leased facility, and attempted destruction of armed forces communication lines for April's vandalism.
He's a suspect in June's incident but hasn't been charged yet.
The FBI is involved because what was done to the military recruiting station is a federal crime.
If convicted, Walsh faces a half-million dollars in fines, and up to 50 years in prison. He's being held at the Broome County Jail.
