1. A SITTING Senator, you are correct, however, Johnson, who was VP
and then acting President when actually elected, was a a Senator when chosen by Kenndy as his running mate; Nixon was a former Senator, and, technically, Gore won in 2000, and he was a Senator when was tapped by Clinton in '92 as his running mate.

3. Thank you

Thank you for the fast reply.

Mix of interesting and weird that Kerry and Kennedy both have the same initials, both Senators from Massachusetts, both had wartime experience on a gunboat, and now if Kerry wins it will be the first time since Kennedy that a Senator has been elected President.

5. Right, but the point of this concern is the sitting part.

Many prez used to be.

Before Kennedy, I think you have to go back to the nineteenth century.

Irrelevant coincidence? Or fundamental dynamic. Inquiring minds want to know.

My own dark mind thinks that dem success now depends on R failure. Fortunately there's plenty of that, particularly now that Unka Dick has been fastened firmly around aWol's neck.

edit: I had assumed there were more, but only two sitting Senators were elected prez: Warren G. Harding and Kennedy. And one sitting Rep, James Garfield.

2. Hell, aside from 2000, when was the last time
That an incompetent, terribly inexperienced, alcoholic, cocaine using, drunk driving halfwit who is self described as a "media creation" got to be president?

Believe me, stranger things HAVE happened.....
