2. Logically, it has to be "we found something" & I think I heard the
phrase "history of water" on mars. SO they've found proof that Mars once had water. Doubt very much that they found water, but that's a possibility too. They can't be saying "we've found proof that there's never been water" because it's proving a negative, logically impossible, and because they simply don't have that much data.
