Why Isn't The Press All Over Nader's Impeachment Comments?
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 05:47 PM by ThomWV
The one thing Nader did right this morning was speak for a few minutes on the reasonablness and appropriatness of Impeachment for Bush. You'd think the press would jump all over comments like that and great debate would be raging on the hack-talk-shows. Not a word that I've heard. I wouldn't care if they were ridiculing the idea, as long as they were talking about it. Do you all think that maybe an E-Mail campaign to CNN or others and maybe the papers too would be in order? This is an issue I'd love to see in the public debate, even thought there isn't a snowball's chance in the House.

I think Nader did the country a real favor by bringing this up on National TV. Let's use it.

1. That comment alone will ensure that the media will "Deanize" him.
We won't have to worry about Nader this time. The neocons will take care of him.

2. What Nader says isn't newsworthy
People only care that his candidacy will be bad for Democrats and good for *. A cardboard cutout of Nader could be running in his stead, for all the coverage his actual words are going to get from this point on.

3. Then again...
this may be a snowball. Enough to put pressure on our Government during an election year.

8. Yeah, they'll snowball
and you'll need a very cold day in hell before your snowball results in a single Republican congressman supporting the impeachment of the President. The only way to remove Bush from office is to support the Democratic nominee.

4. Have they mentioned Ramsey Clark's impeach idiot site?
No, they won't deal with it until they have to. The Dems may or may not be afraid of shrub anymore, but the media still is.

6. And Ramsey Clark, by opposing Democrats
made impeachement impossible. Ramsey Clark, like Ralph Nader, is one of the best weapons the Republicans have.

5. Who cares?
Bush will never ever be impeached so long as Republicans control majorities in both houses of Congress.

The only way to change the status quo is to get Democrats elected at every level. Nader's just engaging in mental masturbation - if Democrats controlled the House, then maybe one could talk of impeachment. But we don't - thanks in no small part to Ralph Nader.

7. Most of what Nader said this morning made sense
too bad the Dems are too mad to try to DO anything about it other than demonize Nader. I wrote Nader (I voted for him in 2000, and mentioned that in my email) and asked him not to run. But honestly, I do not get how mad folks are about his run. If they think it is gonna be a cake walk (with or without Nader running) to get into the WH the Dems/Dem party might just as well quit now and blame it all on Nader.

9. Impeach Bush Campaign...a little effort from everyone and it can be done
Impeach Bush Campaign

The nonpartisan national Campaign to Impeach Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft and Rumsfeld (CIBCAR) is led by Professor Francis Boyle at the University of Illinois.

"I would ask you all to contact your own MOC (Member of Congress) and ask him/her to put these Bills in."

-Professor Francis Boyle

What can I do?

Citizen participation is vital. The Congress is empowered to impeach a sitting President, but will only do so in response to overwhelming public pressure.

Only the House of Representatives can impeach a president. Write to your Representative today, tomorrow, the next day, and urge others to do likewise.

Study the issues
Write to your Representative and Senators
Tell others

Ramsey Clark, the former Attorney General of the United States, has also launched a campaign (not affiliated with impeach-bush-now.org) to impeach members of the Bush Administration.

12. Uh, right
You could find a dead girl or a live boy in Bush's bed, and you still wouldn't get Congressional Republicans to vote for impeachment. There's only one way to remove Bush from office, and that's by voting for the Democratic candidate on November 2.

11. Because the only use they have for Nader is to hurt Dems.

Anything he says that doesn't serve that purpose isn't worth repeating or reporting.
