About beating Bush

UNTIL now the world has been able to blame George Bush and his coterie of advisers for the belligerent actions of the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan, and even for its failure to intervene in Palestine, Sudan and elsewhere.

On Tuesday the American people will get the chance to go to voting stations in the 52 states and to endorse Bush's actions or to censure them.

What they decide will have a profound influence on how the rest of the world sees the US and the American people for much longer than the four years to the next presidential election.

Voters will not only elect or not elect Bush, but approve or disapprove what he has already done and failed to do.
