Personhood USA Seeks Referendums In More States After Losing In Mississippi
After a lopsided defeat in Mississippi, Personhood USA’s state affiliates said that they will continue to push for personhood laws throughout the country. The group is pushing to pass personhood laws or set up referendums in states including Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon and maybe even a second vote in Mississippi.

Personhood Nevada blamed the “liberal national media” for the defeat in Mississippi:

"We are disappointed with what happened in Mississippi, but we are moving forward with Personhood in Nevada," said Candy Best, spokeswoman for the state branch of the nationwide, religious-based organization that wants to end legal abortions. "They threw everything but the kitchen sink at us in Mississippi. Fear causes people to hesitate in doing the right thing."

Best on Wednesday blamed misleading reports by the "liberal national media" for the defeat of the Mississippi ballot question.

Hey Candy! The media sounds liberal to you because...reality has a liberal bias!

And wow, those fools behind Personhood USA are SUCH busybodies. You know a real personhood campaign worth fighting for? Ending corporate personhood (movetoamend.org)!

2. I wonder if Candy is of child-bearing age.
Heaven help her if she lives in a state that passes her law and she has a miscarriage.

3. But what will you, Candy, do with the 2/3's of your fertilized ova that are naturally
shed by your body? Will you provide a home and 24/7 care?

4. the personhood law would make identical twins 1/2 of a person
because they came from one blastocyst that did not differentiate into two separate zygotes until days after fertilization.

again, this law is telling women who are raped that they must bear a child rather than protect against the possibility, tho not necessarily the reality, that they had been impregnated at that time.

this law is not based upon legal or scientific ideas of what constitutes a person in medical or legal terms.

this law is a religious belief trying to force its way into women's lives. sort of like a rapist does. rapists don't rape for sex. they rape for the power.

6. Blighted twins
Who will be charged with the death? The other twin which takes it over, or the woman? My guess is the WOMAN. Would they put a newborn in jail for killing it's twin? Nope.

I am sure they don't have an answer to this, do they? They only care about the UNBORN, NOBODY after they are born.

5. All the time & money we have to waste fighting this scourge
I can't believe that, in 2011, we're STILL having to fight for abortion rights and access to birth control. Think of all the good we could do if we didn't constantly have to be on alert against this rabble of Dark Ages devotees.

Just like I can't believe we're still involved in wars without end, wars we can never actually win.

What the hell is wrong with this country?

9. Bring your clown show to Indiana. We got PLENTY of kitchen sinks...
... and we'll USE them!

My fear is that they'll find one state stupid enough to enact this piece of shit law ("it's for the BAY-BEEEEES!"} then it will land in Fat Tony and Alito's laps, which will force the 5-4 Scalitobertsmas court to re-visit Roe, which was these fucker's ORIGINAL target in the first place...

I got a daughter who I love dearly. I would hate to see her die before my eyes from an ectopic pregnancy because no doctor is willing to risk prison to save her.
