Iran To Stage Missile Wargames From Monday
TEHRAN (AFP) – Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards are to launch military exercises on Monday with the firing of different range ballistic missiles, the state news agency IRNA reported.

The exercises, codenamed Great Prophet-6, are to start on Monday, said a Guards commander, General Ami Ali Hadjizadeh, quoted by IRNA, without specifying how long the manoeuvres will last.

"Short-, medium- and long-range missiles will be fired, especially the Khalij-Fars, Sejil, Fateh, Ghiam, and Shahab-1 and -2 missiles," he said.

The general, whose force carries out wargames each year in the Gulf region, said the latest exercises were "a message of peace and friendship to the countries of the area."

3. You mean like the ones that have actually placed one of their satellite in orbit?
Iran Launches Second Homemade Satellite Into Earth Orbit

Iran launched a satellite into earth orbit Wednesday, Iran's state TV reported, in a feat that is likely to raise concerns among those who fear Iran's intentions and nuclear development program.

The report said the locally produced satellite, called Rasad, or observation, was launched successfully by a Safir missile on Wednesday. There was no independent confirmation of the launch or of the satellite achieving orbit.

It the second satellite Iran has put into orbit. The first, named Omid, was launched in 2009.

The Iranian TV report said the new satellite is designed to produce high resolution maps.

5. Iranian media? Compared to whom? I generally throw all media reports
from any source into that giant hopper in my mind and then conclude, what I hope are the real facts, after all is said and done.

That said and back to the Iran issue, I fear that we poo-poo the Iranian capabilities even though their production of weapons is basically internal and it is hard to gauge exactly what they have and what it can do.

When they can successfully put a satellite into orbit, that should give one pause. At least it does for me.

6. I have a hard time believing that they put a satellite into orbit
remember that is coming from the same government that claimed they have 100 ships to ever 1 ship the US has.

2. Better photoshopping this time?
Great fun was had by all, at the regular media's expense too when they crudely photoshopped one of their missile lunches over one of the duds in the lineup. Anyone have that archived?
