Record flooding along the Mississippi River threatens to inundate at least two Louisiana refineries and hundreds of oil and gas wells, officials have warned.

"We haven't seen this kind of flooding since 1927."

Army engineers plan to open a major spillway by Saturday in order to divert water away from New Orleans and ease pressure on the Mississippi as it approaches the Gulf of Mexico.

Floodwater as deep as six metres will inundate areas west of the river which house about 24,000 people and 13,000 structures.

I put this up to say this: Although the price of oil has gone down 13 percent in the last week, the gas stations in
my area..Chicago North Suburbs, have used this story as a reason to increase prices far past what they were last week when oil was more than ll0 dollars a barrel. Now it is $97 a barrel. So we would expect a reduction..

This morning at some EXXon Stations near where I live, it was $4.65 a gal up from $4.49 over the weekend. These selfish bastards know no end. Note: the refineries have not been closed down, or flooded..just that they might be.

So, gas stations where I live, 1100 miles away, raise prises. Also note: In the northern Illinois area, we have 3 refineries that are not affected by any floods.
