Anti-Abortion Judicial Nominees as a Protected Class
Here's an excellent editorial by Josh Marshall in The Hill:

http://www.hillnews.com/marshall/080603.aspx

Republicans are very upset that Senate Democrats have held together enough to sideline three of President Bush’s most hard-line conservative judicial nominees.

That unity anticipates similar steadfastness in the face of hard-line nominations to the Supreme Court if and when Bush gets the chance. And all that complaining about Democratic filibustering — whether justified or not — never caught on with voters.

But that’s still no excuse for the ridiculous charges that Democrats are acting out of anti-Catholic bias or bigotry when opposing Alabama Attorney General William Pryor’s nomination to the federal appeals bench, in part because of his views on abortion.

1. The theocrats will use any lies they can to push their religion ...
on the rest of us -- with Opus-Dei Santorum (and his sidekick Brownback) chief among them. Their intent is precisely to eliminate separation of church and state, because they want to unite the two under their hegemony. Meanwhile, the Vatican preaches that Catholic politicians must vote their way -- thank goodness Catholics in general, including many who are politicians, have better sense than to listen to the Vatican.

2. judges
It boils down to this: a politician has to ask himself if he is going to follow his church dictates or that of the constitution.

3. Imperial Family Friends and Allies and Capos and Buttons
The REAL "protected class"!

(This overlaps with Wingnut Nazi Judges more beholden to the Imperial Family than the nation)
