U.S. State Seeks Laid - Off Traders to Teach Math.
NOT WALL STREET DEMONS

Elected after a campaign that emphasized service and giving back to the community, U.S. President Barack Obama has pledged to place greater value on education and raise standards.

New Jersey, which borders New York and is home to many Wall Street bankers, has obtained federal funding for $4,000 grants to cover tuition for the Traders to Teachers program.

To be eligible, candidates must have been laid off and have at least a bachelor's degree, though not necessarily in mathematics. There is also a math test, which is tough enough that only 69 of the applicants passed.

1. What the hell makes anyone think that these assholes know
anything about math?

Clearly they never understood the actual math behind some of their more esoteric trading vehicles.

2. Did you READ
that they have to be tested?

AND do you think ALL OF THEM participated in esoterica?

5. A goodly number of them DID...
or hoped to.

But I object to the CONCEPT of having these people be given a special program to re-train them (if they DO pass the test) to be math teachers. Especially when there are SOOOO many teachers being laid off right this second. If they need more math teachers, I think California is about to have a large surplus of them.

BTW, I have a math and computer science degree, would love to teach high school math (I taught University level Computer Science for 4 years), but currently do not have the means to get a teaching certificate (it costs money, I don't have any as I was laid off by IBM 6 months ago). No special programs for me to return to get a certificate and start teaching.

3. Oh great, so we'll be able to have a whole other next generation
who are dumb fucks when it comes to math and economics. Wonderful news! I am so glad I live in America.

4. Traders would make lousy teachers in general, IMO
and really, those who helped get us into this mess should not be rewarded. They should be shoveling sh*t somewhere.
