The political and economic crisis in the UK, and the Church
Edited on Sat May-16-09 05:50 PM by Joe Chi Minh
"GK Chesterton once said: "The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected."

The sanguine contemplation by an Anglo-Catholic "tank thinker", of Cameron leading a Tory government made my hair stand on end, but persevere, because there is a lot more to the article. Moreover I caught a glimpse today in the hard-copy version of the Catholic Herald of a speech delivered by Pope Benedict stating categorically that pursuit of the current economic thinking would be disastrous, since it is precisely that kind of thinking brought about this economic debacle in the first place. Very trenchant, and very much in line with the thinking of the economic mavens on DU's Stock Market Watch, and most of the writers of their linked articles; as well as elementary humanity.
