The Bush Legacy of Racist Politicization of Justice
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 08:12 AM by Stingo
Did Bradley Schlozman politicize the DOJ Civil Rights Division? Evidently there is not enough evidence to bring him to trial for that or for lying to Congress. But the report gives us the evidence that is ugly, especially in the injection by Schlozman of racism into the very Division of the DOJ charged with combatting racism in the US.

1. Bumping this up for good reason
Racism is important as an issue to me for good reason. I'm a white man raised Methodist. I've been a Democrat, though raised in a Republican family, since I reached the voting age in 1974. At 1 years old I gave a speech in a school assemply for RFK, dressed as a hippie and using words like "grok." I've got my bona fides. My wife is Jewish and a lifelong Republican until this year.

We are this year adopting an African American child. It might happen as early as today, or tomorrow. Yes, it is that soon, and it is very emotional. There's a little push back among our relatives, but we know in our hearts that adopting an African American boy and raising him with our middle class white culture will be hard and probably good for him. My goodness but my white liberal guilt sparks sometimes, but I know we are doing the right thing. But we know that race will infect the rest of our lives. I'm thinking that infection will be productive in the best ways.

I just needed to get that off my chest. We get documentation about a baby in the next hour or so. Holy crap but this might finally be happening. I am proud, worried, delighted, excited and humble. Is that possible all at once. I know I am crying every twenty minutes even at the possibility.

Please, pray for us. Not that we deserve it or anything, but we know our road is tough.
