Garrett Epps / Salon.com: "Karl Rove's big election-fraud hoax"
"At least part of the U.S. attorneys plot seems to derive from the "election fraud" hoax that Republicans are trying to perpetrate in order to gain control of the country's voter lists. So nailing this inept crew of thugs won't be good enough. We need laws protecting the right to vote from the kind of phony, partisan prosecutors that Gonzales, Rove and Co. were trying to put in place, and from the punitive, restrictive voter-ID laws that are a prominent part of the far-right political agenda."

1. Yes, There's Nothing Like An Outright Coup Attempt To Show Where the Holes
are in the system. We have a generation of work before us, plugging those holes, bringing a 200+ year old document up to date (think of it as in the nature of Microsoft's fixes), and making our 18th century voting process and representative democracy a little more like the 21st.

2. I'm not sure why the Constitution is so in need of work. I think that
the work lies in the area of making sure felonious bastards like the current bunch running the administration and sitting on the republican side of the aisle NEVER pull this kind of crap again. That would be in the area of legislation.

3. There are holes that these people think they can walk through because
they are masters at twisting and cheating. PLUS - they have the entire Federalist Society and all the local-regional Federal Societies behind them - dedicated to changing the Constitution to satisfy 1) corporations, their ceo's/ stockholders/ directors/ barons/ foundatons PLUS their loyal blindfolded religious voting base and their getting rich religious leaders PLUS all the brass in the military who are dedicated to perpetual war, war toys, and the expendability of our young kids.

Conservatives have a massive scale tool at their right - the Federalist Society - yes, plugging holes is the opposite of what this Society is doing along with people from all the Regent U's. It's uirgent. But, it starts with recognizing the enemy that is within our country.
