GIs abducted in death triangle
Edited on Mon Jun-19-06 12:22 AM by cal04
THE US military mounted a huge search over the weekend for two American soldiers apparently abducted by insurgents in an area known as the Triangle of Death last Friday.

Witnesses said that the insurgents staged what appeared to be a well-planned attack that divided the pair from their colleagues so that they could be seized. If so, that would mark a sinister new development in the insurgents’ tactics.

Only one US soldier is known to have been abducted since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, and he has not been seen since. If these two are found dead, or the insurgents release a videotape of their fate, it would be a serious blow to the White House, just when the formation of the new Iraqi Government and the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had boosted public support for the war.

The missing GIs were part of a team of about 12 US soldiers equipped with three Humvees who were manning a checkpoint near Yusufiyah, about 50km (30 miles) south of Baghdad, last Friday evening.

1. CNN--No mention of this story on front page!!
A few hours ago, there was no mention of this story on CNN's top stories
on their front page. I hunted for the story, and finally found it--after
scrolling way down on the page.

Currently (1:00 am CST) CNN has two Iraqi stories at the top of their page.
One is, "Senators spar over U.S. commitment in Iraq." The second story is,
"Exclusive view of hunt for insurgents in Ramadi." The second story is a video
story about the Iraqi/American soldiers working to kill insurgents in Ramadi--a total
PR, prop-up-the-war, puff piece.

I am really angered and disgusted by this. CNN is obviously helping the White House
downplay the story about the American soldiers who were kidnapped, while playing up
war-marketing stories.

This is just downright absurd and sickening. It's obvious that the White House
has expressed a desire to keep the kidnap story quiet.

How a "news organization" could put the puff piece on the front page, and omit
the most important news coming out of Iraq right now--that two American soldiers
have been kidnapped--is truly beyond the pale.

I'm guessing that when Karl avoided an indictment, it gave him a renewed sense of
entitlement.

2. I don't give a flying fuck about the White House, 1 of those kids is my
son's age (23) and from our town (Houston). Jesus, all I can think about right now is his poor parents.

My 23 yr old son and his friends are just a bunch of goofball kids.....

I hate this fucking administration w/every fiber of my being!

The monsters in the White House think the Geneva Conventions are outdated and torture is A-OK - I just wonder how the fuck that is going to play out when our kids are at the mercy of the other side?

I hate this fucking administration, they bring nothing but death and destruction!
