Blame It On Those Liberal Republicans???
It's been a rough few days for the right-wing pandering chattering class - such a tragic tale and nary a liberal in sight to blame.

Just flipped on Rush Limbaugh for a few moments. He was in full Defcon 1 Harrumph, flopping around like Curly begging ``Moe! Larry! Cheese!'' in trying to find a culprit to blame for the plight of Terri Schiavo.

Poor things. If only Michael Schiavo would admit publicly he voted for Bill Clinton, maybe they would feel better.

Just fathom the pickle the Yada Yada Yada Blah Blah Blah Viceroys of the Airwaves must feel to have such a juicy topic like Terri Schiavo to chew on only to discover just as many conservative Republicans are in favor of pulling the poor woman's feeding tube as the usual suspects of The New York Times meets the Kennedy compound?

Poor dears. If only it could be revealed that Terri Schiavo once dated John Kerry, maybe the Father Coughlin radio community would have its own reason to live.

Therein can be found the crisis the Axis of Sleazos found themselves in trying to stir up their legions of dittohead lemmings - they were forced to think for a change and run the daunting risk of actually stumbling upon an original concept that didn't have an ideological label attached to it.

The tragedy of Terri Schiavo's life and death isn't Republican or Democratic, liberal or conservative, right or left.

Judges, good, honest, dedicated people like George Greer, James Whittemore and others have ruled on this case based on the law, not the editorial pages, or the partisan think tanks, or the P.T. Barnums of the Bible, or the delusional ramblings of the talk radio Borgias.

But then again, to the vigilantes of the AM dial and the Fellinis of Revelations, the Schiavo Sturm und Drang has never been about the law, or the truth, or even a dying woman's last wishes.

For these false profiteers, Terri Schiavo has been the biggest thing to hit the media since Howard Stern discovered you could sell nudity - on the radio

1. U.S. News World Report's
just arrived today. Its Schiavo articles are classic. How could they reported on this story without (apparently) talking to or quoting Michael Schiavo, without discussing the guardian ad litem's objective written testimony to the court, without mentioning the Florida statute that the judge interpreted in deciding the case? What irresponsible fluff. It's just beyond me. No wonder the country is so divided between the ignorant and the half informed. The worst thing is that people who focus on facts can't get a word in edgewise. Blustery emotion reigns.

Why don't you neaten it up and send it off. Maybe it will get published. I don't read US News. Unfortunately I do subscribe to Newsweek. It (in my opinion) used to be the best of the 3--Time, US News and Newsweek.

Now Newsweek to is a piece of trash. It comes to my house every week. I don't even bother to read it anymore. Just waiting for the subscription to expire now.

3. LOL! I think your last paragraph would make a great LTTE to Newsweek!
I think it's a great idea to let publications know what we think of their coverage. After all, they depend in great part on you actively writing a check for your subscription. And their ad rates depend on their circulation numbers. They have a stake in what their readers think.

4. you are right. maybe I will
for about 4-5 years every christmas i purchased 2 additional newsweek subscriptions for my daugher and sister. this year i did not do that.

i just purchased 2 subscriptions to The Nation for them.

It's sad really. I got married in 1970 and my husband was a subscriber to Newsweek before we got married. We have subscribed to that magazine for 35 yrs plus but I am not kidding. I have no intention to renew when it expires at the end of this year.

5. Thank you.
I get this "magazine" free -- part of a deal when I subscribed to Salon. It is a rag -- the publisher must have been bought out by the extreme right -- not worth the paper it is printed on -- just horrible. To fell a tree and then fill it with blather like that should be a crime.

I'm thinking of editing my protest letter about the Schiavo article to include a request that USNWR not defile my mailbox with their slanted smut ever again and sending it off.
