Coming Sunday from AP: Is this World War IV?
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 04:38 AM by Newsjock
Released on the wires, for publication Sunday and after. Watch for it in your local paper

By BRIAN MURPHY
Associated Press Writer

The main battle lines zigzag around the world: from the Middle East to Africa and Asia as far as the Philippine jungles and teeming Jakarta streets. The fallout -- patriotism, paranoia, propaganda and plotting -- spreads much farther afield.

Does that sound like a world war?

From the outset, with the Sept. 11 attacks and instant comparisons to Pearl Harbor, the theme of "world war" has been prominent, and a growing number of scholars and military experts believe this is precisely the description that fits the U.S.-led fights and forays against Islamic extremists that have followed.

... World War III, or IV, or the War on Terror -- or whatever name finally makes it into Webster's -- has already catapulted military and political planners into a new age. Campaigns can no longer be measured by territory seized or ended by armistice.

1. When you put it that way:
It makes sense. You have the no. 1 military power declaring war on hidden enemies - enemies that can inhabit every corner of the world. A hidden enemy with one thing in common: muslims. Pretty general. And given the secret manned space program the neo-cons want to implement, it goes even beyond the World.

That seems a pretty clear example of 'World War.'

52% of American voters plan to vote for the madman behind this.

The madman behind this is able to show up anywhere for 45 minutes and "the people" throw a minimum of $1 million to buy more of this.

I wish this article had been published for Sept. 11 instead. But, really I wish this article was really a sci fi piece, to be perfectly honest.

The story hasn't been released. The "lots more" indicator is that it's a very long story. Sorry about the confusion.

Actually, the way news cycles go these days, it should start showing up on newspaper websites sometime Saturday. Google News should be able to snag a copy of it as soon as it's released.

5. If you listen to Bush's Garbled speeches....his one theme is..."We are in
a War.....a War that we are committed to......that we will be in for a long time....that won't be easy, but we will win it...." It's a war against people who hate.....they hate us......" (that's almost an exact quote from my memory...because he says it over and over again.) He never varies the speech he gave it to the returning 3rd Infantry Battalian in George yesterday he says it when ever he talks.

They do consider it WWIII.......We don't pay attention because we think Chimp is and Idiot and PNAC is wrong.......But, think about our Democrats who voted for this.......Those who voted for this knew what they were doing........and they commited us......I don't think they were so mislead by Chimp.....I think for some reason it was felt to be necessary......

But, I will never approve of it and will do whatever I can to support those who will find a better way to get us out of Iraq.

I don't know why all these folks want WWIII........maybe it's the Rummy type fascination about how the military can fight wars in a new way. But just because it doesn't have boundaries like other wars.......Chimpy has declared it.....and on that.....he isn't lying to us......sadly.........:-( We just don't want to believe him.....
