Presidential dog named for liberal character (From Anti-McCarthy Book)
CONCORD, N.H. -- President Bush's new family dog has a name drawn from a children's book, but the author wouldn't have been happy with this year's election results.

Oliver Butterworth's book, "The Enormous Egg," was published in 1956, written in response to McCarthy era civil-rights abuses. Its main character is the dinosaur Uncle Beazley, a triceratops who survives a senator's efforts to have him exterminated for being too out of place.

"I'm not sure my father would be rolling over in his grave," said Tim Butterworth of Chesterfield, a Democrat and the late author's son. "But he'd probably be smiling quite a bit, because he liked irony."

Miss Beazley is a Scottish terrier puppy the president gave first lady Laura Bush last week for her birthday. The first lady and twins Barbara and Jenna named the pup, who was born Oct. 28. She is due to arrive just before Christmas.

4. Sounds more like a Rovian cover story
These people make up lies even when they don't have to. They're always trying to 'manage the narrative'.

Like the lie about Air Force One getting spotted by British Air a few years ago. No need for that lie, other than to give people something to talk about around the water cooler.

6. It's not hard for Laura to get screwed up
Considering the Xanax-induced haze through which she operates.

11. This story is a Rovian PR piece to show Bush is reaching out to liberals.
He's named his dog after one of them.

12. Beazley was the DEVIL - played by Oliver Reed in....
the Olivia Newton-John/John Travolta movie Two of a Kind. Not that anyone other than me would know this.

That was my first thought on hearing the name. Then again, one of my worst nightmares ever involved black scottish terriers.
