Kerry pounds Bush for failing to kill bin Laden
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 04:50 PM by MarkTwain
Eighteen Hours Late, but FINALLY! ....

APPLETON, United States (AFP) - Democratic challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) berated President George W. Bush (news - web sites) for failing to destroy Osama bin Laden (news - web sites), a day after the terrorist mastermind roiled the US election campaign with a new videotape.

Kerry, stung by attacks on Friday in which Bush accused him of a "shameful" attempt to reap political gain from the tape, promised he would provide better leadership in the global antiterror campaign.

"As I have said for two years now, when Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were cornered in the mountains of Tora Bora, it was wrong to outsource the job of capturing them to Afghan warlords who a week earlier were fighting against us," Kerry said in a rally in the battleground state of Wisconsin. Kerry said Bush should instead have used "the best-trained troops in the world, who wanted to avenge America for what happened in New York and Pennsylvania and in Washington," a reference to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

"It was wrong to divert our forces from Afghanistan (news - web sites) so we could rush to war in Iraq (news - web sites) without a plan to win the peace," said Kerry.

10. HAHAHA
You're funny. Such objective sources, with facts to back them up and everything.

FROM A SOURCE CLOSE TO THE CAMPAIGN

Just heard from a source close to the campaign, tuned in to the conversations at the highest levels.

According to the Bushies, the last few days have seen a huge burst of momentum in their numbers.

They think Bush is ahead by a few points nationally. They expect the next round of tracking polls to show a bit of a bump.

So let me get this straight. The Bush campaign's source for their exit polling numbers is...the Bush campaign?!?

12. That goes against other stories I've seen suggesting the opposite
Bush was getting slammed in early voting in Florida...

Who knows? Exit polls are based on samples, too, and are just as likely to be corrupted. Then again, with Bush in power, the actual election is likely to be corrupted.

He really came out swinging! Good job! They have all the spin in the world, but the truth and common sense and reason are on our side. It's about time we start hitting that!

smart. Let them play their hand first-they are exhibiting signs of desperation and will jump prematurely into the fray. Let Rove sweat it out and feel relatively safe. Then, apply the thousand cuts in a way that cannot be refuted by even the best of them--due to their stupidity in shooting their mouths off.

21.  Yes. He took his eyes off the ball at least two times:
(1) before 9/11/01, and (2) when he decided to invade Iraq before capturing Bin Laden. I think Bin Laden would be more comfortable with Bush in the White House the next four years rather than someone who might be much more effective at hunting him. I think UBL is trying to help Bush win.

22. Lockart explained on AAR: kerry tried the "unity" thingy at first and W
called it "shameful". So, they said: "The hell with it, OBL will not change our plans" so they went with the planned speech.
One last brief reminder why "bipartisanship" is dumb .

24. I don't think it's late
My feeling is most Americans tend to get behind the president no matter who it is when this sort of thing happens. But then they have a bit of time to have it sink in that OBL is not dead. The delay is a good thing. Right now is about the time people will be listening.

25. I only wish Kerry would....
stop with his longwinded, repetitive comments, get off the "outsourcing the job to warlords who were fighting against us..." blah blah. I've read better, succinct commentary on this board and elsewhere. Just say it, John: Mr. Presidentm, you said you were going to get him; youd didn't, you failed. You threw everything you had at getting Saddam Hussein and look at the mess we're in.

He could also tell the shrub: Stop trying to frighten us. We're frightened enough - especially seeing that killer Osama on the loose. Why should we continue to trust you to protect us? Tell us one reason. Just one.

from "My Life"

In January 1996, CIA had established a station focused exclusively on bin Laden and his network within its Counterterrorism Center and shortly thereafter we began to urge Sudan to expel bin Laden.

edited for having two left feet..:freak:
