CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. Rep. Bill Janklow, charged with second-degree manslaughter after a traffic accident that resulted in the death of another man, has no plans to resign his seat in Congress, a South Dakota paper reported Saturday.

Amid speculation Janklow might resign, Russ Janklow told the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, his father, a Republican and ally of President Bush (news - web sites), has no plans to do so.

"He plans to go back to Washington and resume his congressional duties, but he won't know for sure when until he goes to the doctor next week," Russ said to the newspaper of his father. "He has no intention of resigning. It isn't even being discussed."

<snip>

Gee whiz, he only killed ONE man. Look at the deaths caused by th Repug Admin in power today and that ain't nothin. 'Course he shouldn't resign, the Repugs will build a statue to him and give him a talk show on Faux!

1. "No plans"
Typical politician doublespeak.

PREDICTION: Bill Janklow will not be a member of Congress by October 2004.

2. Well why would he resign for killing a man
He got away scot free and got himself elected after he raped a girl. He can get away with whatever he wants.

12. If they were god fearing men
Then republicans wouldn't be committing the sins that are forbidden in the 10 commandments. They would fear going to hell.

So for every republican that says they are religious and believe in god... they are liars!!!!

3. A Democrat
may have had a relationship with a girl that dissapears. He is hounded out of office and his reputation is destroyed...

A Republican straight out kills someone, and he goes back to planning what he will be doing with his nights in D.C.

Yep, business as usual.

4. He may serve time
That might make it a little tough to serve in D.C.

The man is in denial.

Maybe he could wear an electronic ankle bracelet on the House floor.

Then again, he may not even lose his license to drive. He's an unrepentant, chronic speed law violator.

13. If they follow procedures...
meaning that he has to be accessible when they call to check up on him otherwise his "home" detention is revoked and returned to prison.

Would make it difficult for him to make sure that his phone line is open.

Plus electronic ankle bracelet is only approved for home detention use. Meaning NO travel. I doubt that airline security would allow him to travel under current situation.

7. I would agree that if he had killed me he would not get anything
He would not have even been charged. But the guy he killed is a very well liked, ex-Marine, and a firefighter who everyone knew real well. That may be a tough nut to crack for him? Had he been just some average Joe I dout we would have even heard about the incident.

Don

8. What happened to personal responsibility?
Since the Republicans are always harping personal responsibility, shouldn't Janklow resign and plead guilty? Or is personal responsibility only for the "little people" and Democrats?

9. But he'll be useless since he won't be allowed to vote.
How can he represent anybody when he can't vote?

10. I know that I sometimes
group all South Dakotans together cuz after living there 10 years I just could not figure them out at all. So I don't mean ALL of them, but for the most part I always thought they were a funny bunch. It was not unusual to see great big Republican signs in front of the crappiest shacks and houses with junky cars. My daughter went to school there for four years. She had taught herself how to read when she was three and instead of working with her, they treated her as a novelty item. When the other kids found out she could write in cursive, they asked her to teach them how to write their names. When the teacher found out, she yelled at her cuz she would get in trouble with the teacher from the next year who was going to teach them cursive. So, I am watching this story with great interest and will be calling friends up to see what the gossip is there. I could not guess what the people will do. In one aspect, they will support their own to the very end, but on the other hand they are good people in their own sort of way. I guess they will do what they think is the right thing even though sometimes I could not follow their logic.
