U.S. Drug Agents Seize Sailboat Once Owned by JFK
BOSTON (Reuters) - Federal drug agents on Wednesday seized a sailboat that once belonged to President John F. Kennedy because they said the current owner bought the vessel with money earned from marijuana trafficking.

Special agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration executed a federal seizure warrant in Marblehead, Massachusetts, for the 22-foot (seven-meter) Flash II, a Star Class sloop sailboat built in 1930.

Kennedy and his brother, Joe, bought the boat in 1934 and used it in sailing races off Cape Cod. Kennedy sold the boat in 1942 before shipping out for World War II, federal prosecutors said in a statement...

2. Speaking of the ol' "Forfeiture and Seizure Act...."
When will Rush have all his assets seized? After all, he can use his massive fortune to finance a high-price defense...

3. someone who is smarter than me needs to explain this

like they would to a child, for me:

The affidavit said agents got the information about the boat from an unidentified cooperating witness who obtained large amounts of marijuana from suppliers in Arizona and Texas and who once hired Anderson to haul drugs across the country.

A spokeswoman for federal prosecutors in Boston said Anderson had not been charged criminally but that the matter remained under investigation. She said Anderson lived in Florida but she did not provide further information on his exact location.

Prosecutors said the boat was subject to federal forfeiture because it was obtained with drug money.

If I understand what I read (simple comprehension skills), it says "an unnamed informant" in cooperation with law officials can give uncollaborated statements regarding someone and their possessions - then without being charged with a crime, assets can be seized?

What part of that works for anyone else? (other than "law enforcement")

7. Yeah, I pledge allegiance... etc, etc, etc, and JUSTICE for all!
As they once said in the sunny city of Belomorsk..off course if there weren't SOMETHING going on they never would have known his name. So certainly he is guilty of something.

4. And I thought we had to deal with stuff 30 years old was bad.
Now we have to have a tie back to 1942???? OK, so now we're at 62 years, let's see if we can find some link to something 100 years ago!

5. So the Kennedies got rid of the boat in 1942 and the drug trafficker....
...bought it in 1996? What can that have to do then with the Kennedies owning the boat 54 years prior? I'm sure there are millions of republicans who have owned real estate, rented apartments, sold products and services to suspected drug dealers, once and twice removed from the transactions. I don't read much about those illicit transactions.

Because this involves the Kennedys, it gets press coverage. :wtf:

8. Sorry, I forgot about the patriot act allowing federal officers to get....
...away with stuff like that and jumping to the conclusion of guilty until proven innocent.
