Are America's airliners really safer now?
09/24/2004 11:27
With all the ballyhoo by Bush about how he has made America stronger and safer, we still have serious problems that Bush refuses to talk about.

In a feature article in CNN: "Undercover investigators were able to slip explosives and weapons past security screeners during tests at 15 U.S. airports". This is according to an investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
USA Today and I quote: "Florida Republican Rep. John Mica as saying the results on weapons were bad enough, but the results on explosives were "absolutely horrendous."

So what has Tom Ridge done in Homeland Security???

1. These tests were done a year ago
According to the original CNN report and the undersecretary of HS said improvements have been made since then. I think we'll need another round of tests to find out if things have indeed improved.

2. Yesterday I read where they are implementing new
..document scanners. I'm not sure but I think that protects us from book reports, travel itineraries, and all document items where trace residue might reside.

Plus, we have the extra secure safety feature of demanding all travel records for the last month.

So there you have it. Your tax dollars at work making you safer everyday.

3. Apparently not, since they let Cat Stevens on.
