Anti-terror flying squads plan (Australia)
Anti-terror flying squads plan

September 20, 2004

Prime Minister John Howard is today expected to launch a $98.7 million assault on terrorism with plans for specialist counter-terrorism flying squads to be dispatched in the region to help Australia's neighbours guard against terror attacks.

Mr Howard is expected to detail the plan in Darwin.

It is understood that a re-elected Coalition government would spend the money over five years to provide seven specialist units of Australian Federal Police officers to help local authorities combat terror groups.
