U.S. Weapons Inspector: Iraq Had No WMD
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040917/D8553BJG0.html

Drafts of a report from the top U.S. inspector in Iraq conclude there were no weapons stockpiles, but say there are signs the fallen Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had dormant programs he hoped to revive at a later time, according to people familiar with the findings.

In a 1,500-page report, the head of the Iraq Survey Group, Charles Duelfer, will find Saddam was importing banned materials, working on unmanned aerial vehicles in violation of U.N. agreements and maintaining a dual-use industrial sector that could produce weapons.

Duelfer also says Iraq only had small research and development programs for chemical and biological weapons.

As Duelfer puts the finishing touches on his report, he concludes Saddam had intentions of restarting weapons programs at some point, after suspicion and inspections from the international community waned.

2. "working on unmanned aerial vehicles in violation of U.N. agreements"
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 08:42 PM by dennis4868
This is what the National Intelligence Estimate said in October 2002....However, our dear pResident did not say this to the american people and in private meetings with congress (ask Sen. Nelson)...Bush said that Sadaam already had unmanned aerial vehicles that will be used to transport WMD to the United States...Bush lied and said that Iraq HAD these unmanned aerial vehicles....he was scaring the shit out of everyone to get his war...all lies....where is the accountability?

5. Announcement: *ahem* THERE WERE NO WMDs!!!
The WMD thingy was just something we could all agree on to march those weak-minded/hearted American people into a war we knew no one would approve,...if they knew what we were really planning to do. But, hey,...we're smart and the rest of the American people are too stupid to decide their destiny; we're in power and the rest of the American people are here for our disposal; we're benevolent, magnificent visionaries above the inconvenient laws of the land and the world. So, who cares about the WMD assertion?

8. Nice photo.
Post that at freeptard.com ;)

If WMDs were the causa beli, whatever, doesn't that make the invasion illegal? How can Saddam and his personnel still be kept in prison if they did not break any Intl. Laws?

10. Just more BS.
The BFEE is so lame. They had so much time to plant WMD. Now they only have intentions and scrap metal under a rose bush.

Early this year, a US general said that Iraq had 695,000 tons of munitions. (Imagine 7 aircraft carriers). These were left behind on the race to Baghdad.
Now our soldiers are finding these everyday, the hard way.

13. so now they have a new excuse
intention to produce weapons if United Nations penalties were weakened or lifted

In its current form, the report reaffirms previous interim findings that there is no evidence that Iraq possessed stockpiles of illicit weapons at the time of the American invasion in March 2003, the officials said. Prewar intelligence estimates that said Iraq actually possessed chemical and biological arsenals and was reconstituting its nuclear weapons program were cited by the Bush administration as the major rationale for war.

With the presidential election campaign in its final weeks, Republicans and Democrats are likely to seize on separate aspects of the report in an effort to score political points.

President Bush, who has said Iraq posed a threat to the world whether or not it possessed illicit weapons, will probably draw attention to the conclusion that Mr. Hussein sought to acquire illicit weapons. His political opponent, Senator John Kerry, who has accused Mr. Bush of misleading the country into war, will probably highlight the conclusion that Iraq had not begun a large-scale production program.
